Guest Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 Hi all, Right, I'll try not to get this too confusing! My situation is, I am with T-Mobile and am at the end of my contract. When I phoned T-Mob regarding an upgrade (asking about the Vario III at the time) I was told it would cost me £89 to upgrade and it was not negotiable! So after much shopping around I have have fallen for the charms of the HTC Touch Cruise from Expansys. The only problem is it means taking up a contract again with T-Mobile. This leaves me with a problem porting my number - and I want to keep it as it's the only number I've ever had! Now my question is, how do I go about keeping my number on the new T-Mob contract? I have heard that you can port your number over to an Orange PAYG SIM then after a month, port it back to new SIM on T-Mobile. Is this true? I know it's a lot of messing about but if it means I get the handset I want with the tarriff I want and keep my number, then so be it! :)
Guest mandt Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 You can indeed do this, once you're out of contract you can port the number to any PAYG SIM If you check the operators websites you can pretty much always order free SIMs online. Get a PAC code for the contract number, ring your new PAYG SIM CS and give them the code, I forget if you need credit beforehand or not but when I did it with T-Mo they were very helpful and advised me on exactly what I needed to do. It takes around 7-10 days for it all to go through, once it has take out your new contract and port the number over again. Hassle as you say but if you need the number it's definitely worth it
