Guest nowimboard Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 Maybe someone with more incite than me could explain why the phone developers seem to be content with the poor cameras that they put in the smart phones. I believe its the only area that the smart phones lack in now since we have new GUI's in the phones thanks to touchflow and PointUI. And you can achieve practically anything with 3rd party software. 5 Megapixels like the Nokia phones are a bit excessive I feel for a phone, but I had a Sony phone two years ago that had 3.2MP with Auto focus and a flash so there should be no excuse for having a top of the range phone with 2MP at this stage! So do you have any reasons as to why, when technology moves so fast HTC and the like remain hovering around the 2MP mark? :) I understand that primarily Smartphones are for business use but even the heffing Nokia Communicator range has 3.2 MP Just bugs me as I have to upgrade end of next month and as far as I can see there isn't a great step up from my E650. I know, I know. Im just being a big girl :D
Guest Monolithix Posted February 11, 2008 Report Posted February 11, 2008 It's something that's annoyed me for years too, HTC, Samsung, Moto all need to catch up with decent camera's. The Kasier and Athena go some way towards this however it's still far from standard. Hopefully the Xperia X1's 3.2 is the same part as the K800/K810 :)
Guest Jacina Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 And then there are business users that can't have a camera on their phone... :) (some companies don't allow visitors to have a phone with a built in camera to enter with that phone...)

Hopefully the Xperia X1's 3.2 is the same part as the K800/K810 :) Unfortunately, it too has pretty bad lens as it seems (based on the size - haven't had the chance to test the image quality it produces) - and, of course, no mechanical lens protection, unlike in the N95-1 or the N82.
Guest Menneisyys Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 5 Megapixels like the Nokia phones are a bit excessive I feel for a phone Let me disagree. Paired with a VERY good lens system, it's capable of making use of all the 5 Mpixels. I have a N95 and just love its camera. Of course, it's worse than, say, 12 Mpixel my latest-and-greatest Canon Ixus 970 IS, particularly in low light but, for taking casual outdoors pictures, it's more than sufficient and produces brilliant results.
