Newbie with Vodafone Today Screen Query

Have just bought myself a shiny new VPA compact which I understand is the Vodafone version of the HTC Hermes. The handset is unlocked and has pretty minimal branding. The only thing that is really annoying is that Vodafone have seen fit to screw up the homescreen by enabling their own version of it which has removed loads of the functionality.

Just wondering if anyone on here knows of any SIMPLE way to remove this and to enable the usual default homescreen....I'm no expert on such matters so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not familiar with exactly what Voda have on their Hermes Today screen, but you can add and remove plugins to suit your liking by tapping Start>Settings>Today>Items

No, that is the problem.

With the Voda branding, all you have is the option to show Voda calender, emails and SMS on the today screen....these cannot be modified only shown or hidden and there is no option to add notes, owner info etc. Very annoying that vodafone see fit to destroy the homescreen. I know Orange make it even worse but at least they give you the option to return to the default screen.

any ideas??

The other way I can think of is to use cooked ROMs, but that will invalidate the warranty - something you don't want to do on a brand new phone! :)

Found a CAB on here that returns my homescreen to how it should be before Vodafone decided to play about....also found a CAB that stopped that so annoying SMS sent notification.

Being a newb I am loving that this device is so adjustable....am I correct in thinking that these CAB's are basically reg tweaks??

Not sure about the other one though.

CABs are also used for installing Software on Windows Mobile devices
