Guest Claris Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 I have searched and searched but can't seem to find an answer... I currently support around 50 PDA users, and with no IT knowledge (I was an admin assistant, I have learnt all know from being chucked in the deep end with a project) am finding it hard to get a solution for my current problem.... I have just set up a load of users with IMAP email accounts, and whilst I understand that the default messaging account on Windows Mobile 5 is the one named 'Outlook E-Mail', I am keen to change this to be the IMAP. Reason being, I currently use GrandaSoft XSForms on all units - this handy tool allows data collection and attaches a csv/xml to an email automatically. Easy to communicate the data, you would think, until you realise you cannot move this mail to another account (to the IMAP), or change the default mail account (I have contacted GrandaSoft who have confirmed this cannot be changed and there are no current plans for it to be changed in any upcoming beta's). As a work around, I plan to ask users to attach the xml file from the menu in messaging. As most of the users have never even used Outlook before, let alone a PDA, I would prefer just to change the default account. Can anyone help?
Guest jimbouk Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 Nope. The easiest way to make it easy for the users would be to fit an exchange server in the set up and set them up to use that (as their default outlook account) instead of the imap accounts. I say easiest, of course that doesnt allow for you needing the budget for an exchange server and setting it up and importing ssl certificates onto devices etc.
Guest Confucious Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Flexmail allows you to change your default email account. It's free to Plus members so if you join MoDaCo Plus you could try it and see if it does what you need but then you would have to buy licences for everyone that needs it (volume discount?)
