Case & Car cradle?

Recommended Posts

Currently using the velcro case that came with the phone and stuffing it in a pocket (as per usual there is no solid belt clip on it, just one that hooks on and could easily fall off) - far from ideal.

What I want is a Seidio type case, but I'm a bit concerned that it then won't fit in a car cradle like the one here:

I take it that it won't fit properly due to the extra bulk? I want a decent car cradle as I will be using the GPS a lot, but I know that I will drop the damn thing if I don't have a case...

Also, is there a decent case with a belt *loop* not a clip? I can't understand the point of a belt clip which is so easy to knock off the belt...

Can only help out with the Car cradle side of things.

Get a Proclip and then an Active Mount for your Kaiser

www.dsldevelopments.com

The Proclip is a non permenant non damaging clip for your car.

You then screw your active(charging) holder onto that.

I've been using them for years.

Do a search on the forums for more glowing feedback.

Agreed, the proclip and brodit mounts are fantastic. But the compromise is that you may have to remove the handset from the case to put it into the mount.

Thanks guys.

The proclip looks good, but I am not a fan of clippy air vent dashboard things. I would definitely go with a windscreen suction mount; I have been using a non-active one with my previous SPV C600 for the last 18 months with no problems.

The trouble with it is that it clearly won't fit with the case on :)

The magnetic ones are one solution but they look a bit cheap and I can see it dropping off onto the floor with enthusiastic driving :-|

Nobody using one of those second skin style cases and a car mount?

If the Brodit one was a bit flexible it might fit in there but I assume it isn't? :)

i have the same issue as you i think. i want the brodit clip but connected to a suction mount. i dont want to have to stick the 2 together, i would rather they clip together if you know what i mean

If you check the Brodit web page I'm pretty sure they do a suction mount that fits their clip. Expansys don't seem to list it but it's on Brodit's site.

My problem is one of fitting the phone + crystal case into the cradle :)

i did find the brodit mount but was told that they wouldnt 'clip' together and would need to be stuck :)

Really? I would assume they worked together perfectly!? That's how they're marketed...

I have m TYTN in a Krusell Leather case and it will fit with the case on in the screen mounted holder I use for my Dell Axim. It is the type you open, put phone in and then close to hold the fone in. The advantage I have is there is a charge port and speaker on the cradle that I can use with the TYTN. Krusell do a lare range of clips and belt loop to fit there cases. (Try Expansys with the offer voucher)

I also use a Krussell case, in fact it's the one I bought for my previous Nokia 6680, and have used it for both the Vario II and Vario III. I hate having the PDA in a permanent case as they invariably restrict access to one or more 'features' of the phone and as you have discovered make dash-mounting very difficult. This case is the 'envelope' type that you take the phone out of when using it - I forget the exact model but it's similar to this.

This Krussell case has the integral belt-loop, which I use 95% of the time and a detachable clip. Even being over 2 years old it still looks great! This coupled with the previously recommended Brodit active holder and car-specific pre-clip gives me a perfect dash mount system.

That's similar to the one you get with MDA Vario III from T-Mobile.
