Guest mumbos Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 Hi, I tried the Orange Unlock procedure on Friday and it worked fine, except after turning the phone off over night, I lost most of my information when I restarted it. Basically I lost all of my customisation and registry information and gprs settings, but still had apps installed. Those apps however, did not show up in the "remove programs" area, and I had to reactivate theM; I guess this is a hard reset, which I've never done before. Has anyone else had this problem? thanks
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 Sounds like your registry was corrupted or edited in some way that Windows didnt agree with. Windows will rebuild the registry back to its original state if this happens. It should be just a case of re-registering and entering all of your settings again.
Guest ragegames Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 I got something similar Unlocked fine on Friday, worked for 2 days, then all my settings were zapped back to default (e.g. home page settings, restoring Orange items to favourites although I'd already copied them off to subdirectories etc.) and, worst of all, the unlock was cancelled. Got it all working again now, but it was a bit of a worry! Peter
Guest mumbos Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 Reactivating got everything going again, yes, but the unlock was gone too. I am scared now to put the unlock back on in case I lose it all again! Does anyone care to stop and restart their SPV to see if they get this too? Who knows, maybe some of you never restart it  and just put a silent profile on at night. Thanks
Guest fraser Posted March 31, 2003 Report Posted March 31, 2003 I had the exact same problem, but before I did the update. It just happens sometimes; I hadn't been doing anything dodgy with the phone, like installing beta apps recently. The new update did make things a lot easier to get back to normal. All I had to do was reset all the options to how I like them.
