Guest glenglen66 Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Hello, I bought a new orange branded TYTN II of a friend his unwanted upgrade. My 18 month which is now past 12 months contract was with a D900 which only supports gprs. The problem im having is getting orange to let me use 3g or HSDPA i can only use the slow gprs. I called orange and asked them to send me the settings but they wont becuase I never bought the phone from them even thought the phone is orange branded. Im really not happy with this and I would maybe spend more in data if they let me have 3g or HSDPA. Anyone have this problem and a way around it other than buying a 3g pay as you go.
Guest Monolithix Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 The problem is your SIM card, not the device settings. As you only had a 2G phone previously Orange only supplied you with a 2G SIM, from experience they will not replace this with a 3G version (bastards). Your only option is to upgrade to (Any) 3G handset and use the new SIM provided with that...

But i did ask if I could use a payg sim and move the data over her said I could. I looked on ebay and 3g sims are like 60p but there also 3g sims which say hsdpa are they both the same or are there 3 types of sim card?
Guest Monolithix Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Nope, HSDPA is a handset feature, so as long as you have a 3G SIM you'll be able to use HSDPA where available...
