how to remove d-pad?

so i spilled coffee all over my BJ II. had to take it apart and clean it, got everything clean except the d pad, it no longer spins, or presses.

I've never taken one apart but if you can get the pad to part from the phone you could try washing the pad with demineralised water or a non conductive/corrosive ceaning solution.
