Guest Shadowfixeruk Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 (edited) Shadowfixeruk:Did you manage to get your phone sorted out? Hi Syphon Filter, Thanks for all your help - i haven't been able to do anything on it yet - i am maxed out at work and going on holiday soon <yeah!> And it seems that my reason for wanting to go back to WinMo6 has just disappeared... i don't need to get Skype working anymore (which was my reason for rolling back to WinMo6...) Thx anyway! SF - and i will try at sometime! Edited March 18, 2008 by Shadowfixeruk
Guest lewis.curley Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 I was already ready to get flashing until I saw: THIngs that i found.. email, the option to use imap is greyed out... how annoying that it insists on auto detecting your settings. skype no longer starts, fails with useful message"Could not start skype" Can anyone confirm this is true/ if there is a fix? One of the essential things I need is the ability to use GMail over IMAP? If thats solved i can flash away! Thanks
Guest Mr.Clark Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) Remote Desktop hasn't been in any official HTC Kaiser builds AFAIK, including the leaked WM6.1 ones? P Maybe because on a screen the size of the Kaiser, the Remote Desktop is just too small to be of any use? It was just about workable on the Universal, but I haven't ever felt the need to try it on the Kaiser. Thanks It worked for me... i think you have to say initially that your email address is at something other than Gmail, set it up with Gmail's IMAP servers, then go back after that's done and set the email address back to what it should be. I don't use Skype, but Outlook in TLR 6.1 ROM works fine with IMAP. Tools->New Account...Enter your e-mail address and password->NextUncheck 'Try to get e-mail setting automatically from the Internet'->NextYour e-mail provider: Select 'Internet e-mail'->NextEnter account details as usual etc.
Guest mandt Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 Maybe because on a screen the size of the Kaiser, the Remote Desktop is just too small to be of any use? True, it's pretty unusable IMO LogMeIn still takes some beating for remote access, I use it almost daily
Guest Yammeh Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I've tried remote desktop on the Kaiser and it's not too bad. It shows the bit of the screen in the background that you're currently looking at and then a little rectangle in the bottom-right (I think) that allows you to move the zoomed area around. It's obviously small because of the size of the screen (and the fact my monitor is 1680x1050) but it does the job.
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 I agree, I wouldn't want to use it to do work, but to connect to a machine while out and about, it serves a need.
Guest shootydogthing Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 (edited) Gah. I just flashed, everything works except the Weather section of the Home thing... And I can't find how to change the softkeys on the today screen... It's not too bad, I have contacts which i want, but I'd rather not have calender... Edited March 22, 2008 by shootydogthing
Guest shootydogthing Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 Aye, it's working absolutely fine. I definitely prefer it to the stock T-Mob. I'm just running GPS Tool to get my GPS working properly again. It's taking longer than it did the first time, but it's certainly getting there.
Guest shootydogthing Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 So this is BEFORE the advanced options thing is installed? DAMNIT!!! I've hard reseted about 4 times this afternoon in an attempt to fix this, eventually giving up and disabling the tab. And NOW i hear this? time to uinstall...
Guest ScrewlooseAZ Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 I've been having random hang ups with this rom. After reading around at xda, I found that people who got rid of the HTC task manager said it improved the lagging. Is there a way to remove the HTC task manager from this rom? Since it does not show up in the Add & Remove programs section.
Guest shootydogthing Posted March 23, 2008 Report Posted March 23, 2008 well, I think i'm sorted. everything I want is working and I've finaly managed to trick my backup into playing nice with the threaded SMS. pros: love the threaded SMS It's FAST!!! straight after a soft reset it's using 10% less processor power than the T-mobile stock con: don't like the fact that now in IE I have to have smaller pictures if I want smaller text, but I can live with that awesome work! :D
Guest waynepyrah Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Just taken the plunge and installed the rom on my Tmob Vario3 - all looking good thanks to the developer :-) Love the option in settings to turn HSDPA on and off - that was the biggest battery zapper with push email!!! Cheers, Wayne
Guest TheLoanRanger Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Just to let everyone know i'm still here, still around, and will release an update as soon as there is a good reason to :D A new build of the OS is out, so I may look at incorporating that. It'll be a minor change, a kinda 'flash this version when you need to hard reset anyway' Glad you're all enjoying it!
Guest shootydogthing Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 My one problem is that the Enlarge Start menu and Title Bar don't work right... TLR, i sent you a PM...
Guest Loconinja Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 I've been running this ROM for a few weeks now with no major problems. The only issue I have (and may not be ROM related), is that about once a week, my e-mail account fails to send e-mail (I'm using smtp.t-email.co.uk as my outgoing server). A soft-reset will not fix it, but deleting the account and re-adding it (with exactly the same settings!), fixes it. Anyone else noticed this? Explanation? It's a bit of a pain.
Guest waynepyrah Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Loneranger thanks for spending the time and effort to do this rom. I seem to be having issues with HTC weather... there are no cities listed just two blank boxes... any ideas? Everything else working no probs Cheers, Wayne

I get the same issue, except with downloading emails sometimes. It does not happen that often. I think it has something to do with the server time out settings being too short. Essentially times out before it gets a good connection. . . At least that is what I think my problem is. On another note. I've noticed that after a soft reset my memory usage says 32 or 33%, then after a few days it sits at about 36%. Just now it was sitting at 40% but Activesync was on. Anyone else getting the slowly increasing memory usage? It is a good ROM and thanks TLR for making this for us.
Guest M_Taylor40 Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Decided to flash the ROM on my Vario 3 yesterday after a while of thinking about it but being scared lol, this ROM seems to be working great! Thanks TRL! A few questions though, when I was using the TMobile Vario 3 ROM under settings>personal I had the option to change the softkeys on the today screen, I've sat and search all over the phone with the new ROM and cant find anyway of doing it! I downloaded a program from download.com called RemapSoftkeys but it killed my start menu and I ended up doing a hard reset to get it working again! All I basically want to do is set the left softkey to load my contacts and my right softkey to load the New SMS, as I had on before the flash. The other question I have is with the start menu, is there anyway to remove the recently opened programs? I just want to be able to set my start menu to show the options to load the today screen, games, office mobile, messaging, tomtom6 and then no recent programs and straight to the Programs and settings options. Can I do this? Please note that this is the first WM device I've ever had and had it for about 6months so I kinda know how to use it but don't have a clue about changing registry settings or anythin on it! I'm happy playin with the registry as I do it often on PCs but I've been playing with them for over 10yrs lol. What do I use to change the registry settings as I want to stop the screen turning off during a call as well as that is really annoying! Thanks, M_Taylor40
Guest shootydogthing Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 (edited) that's what I'm getting too :( I'd dearly love to have my own town in there :D You need to set the town BEFORE installing the HTC Home Settings, and then it'll work perfectly. so: 1. uninstall the HTC Home Settings (ensuring you actually have the Weather tab enabled) 2.soft reset 3. set your town 4.reinstall the Home Settings if you want to. All I basically want to do is set the left softkey to load my contacts and my right softkey to load the New SMS, as I had on before the flash. Yeah, I have this issue too, but I want "tasks" on the right and "contacts" on the left. Fortunately for me "Contacts" is already there, just on the right, and I have HTC Action Screen bound to a press of the voice command button, that takes care of new message and new email etc. What do I use to change the registry settings as I want to stop the screen turning off during a call as well as that is really annoying! On XDA Developers theres something called Kaiser Tweak, this will do a lot of the hard work for you, you just use drop down menus to select the options you want. That's one of the settings it can change. Edited March 26, 2008 by shootydogthing
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Installing the ROM as we speak ... fingers crossed :D

Guest shootydogthing Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 Good luck! Another good thing I've noticed: With the stock T-Mob ROM, my phone crashed overnight maybe... 4 or 5 times a week, causing all the graphics to disappear leaving text and the background and none of the buttons/touchscreen to work. This hasn't happened at all since I flashed
