No Audio with Clarion car headunit

I have a Clarion DXZ578RUSB car stereo head unit and have just hooked up their BLT373 bluetooth adaptor. I can get the phone to work in handsfree mode with the seperate microphone and speach through the car speakers but I cannot seem to get audio to work. When I play using Win Mediaplayer or pocketmusic player it just comes out of the phone's speaker or the USB headset if I plug it in. When I paired the device the window shows hands free and wireless stereo. Is there something fundamental I'm missing here?
