Smartphone , PDA or What??

Hi Everyone..

Well this part of the forum is meant for absolute beginners... well I'm that Beginner :D

Call me stupid, but I have just purchased a HTC Touch Dual.. why? God knows but just needed a new phone to play about with (which I'm finding a bit difficult - but I'll figure it out)

Anyway.. like I said..I'm a total newbie..

Q. Is this classed as a smaprt phone, PDA or what.. :)

I think the "official" classifications are:

Smart Phones are - Windows Mobile based phones without touch screens

PDA's are - Devices with windows mobile or PalmOS etc without phone functionality

Personally I would term it : "Pocket PC phone" or a "Windows Mobile phone".

ok.. thanks for that.. it gets confusing when you read thing saying no touch etc

The old official name for devices such as the Touch / Touch Dual was Pocket PC Phone Edition.

Of course Smartphones are now Windows Mobile Standard and Pocket PCs are Windows Mobile Professional.

Probably not much clearer... :)
