Guest netjack77 Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 what's the quickest way to get GPS lock for this program. I've gotten it to successfully work as long as I fire up the gps using the internal gps program or Telenav. XT doesn't pick up gps on it's own. any advice?

Garmin Mobile XT picks up the satellites within 2-5 minutes from a cold start in the city (new york, jersey) and within 10 seconds in certain wide open locations. It should work without any other gps apps. I find it better than gmaps or live search as garmin will not time out when searching for the satellites.

Guest netjack77 Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 unless i lock a gps signal using gpstest, it says unable to locate gps device: please verify that device is powered on and w/in range. Continue searching?
Guest H.Flores Posted February 28, 2008 Report Posted February 28, 2008 I would suggest using the gps unlock program found in downloads section because I had to use it but some phones don't. The program allows you to set the gps to work from com4 .I mentioned internal gps only because when I first tried installing Garmin it kept searching for a bluetooth device then I rechecked the tutorial and I had made a mistake when creating one of the files in wordpad. It works right away from a cold start even worked during heavy rain the other day so you may want to re-visit the tutorial and follow it step by step (although somethings may not be needed for example I didnt have to delete any unl files ) go here http://www.modaco.com/content/Samsung-i617...-Card-Tutorial/ and you should be good to go
