Guest swanmk Posted February 25, 2008 Report Posted February 25, 2008 (edited) Hello all, I sincerely hope someone out there who knows all the bugs in WM6 can help me on this as I have been on the phone to ATT and samsung, all that usual stuff and little help there. I decided to try the shortcut to Bandsel.exe in the windows directory that is on quite a few web pages with my new blackjackII. It basically just makes a shortcut in the start menu to a nice little app that changes the band from auto to either gsm850 which I believe is the EDGE network, gsm1900 which I think is GPRS or 2.5G and WCDMA which I believe is 3G. So I did as was suggested which was to run this program and change to gsm850 (EDGE network) to save battery. Then you can just change back to auto to use 3G and fast internet. This doesn't seem to be the case! I can no longer change it back to auto so am stuck on gsm850. It just keeps saying 'unable to change band selection' when I try to put it back to auto. I have tried many things, the adminsettings.exe does a similar thing but has no effect as far as I can see. I also tried a hard reset (power on while holding up button) Wiped out everything except the damn band selection still stuck on gsm850!!! If anyone has any ideas do let me know, I can't help thinking it is some simple permissions thing with the file or something like that which is more tricky to deal with on a mobile device than a friendly linux box... Thanks for any help, Mike. Edited February 25, 2008 by swanmk
