Guest Disco Stu Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 At some point tonight (or earlier) I lost signal on my Touch Dual. "No Service" appeared on the Today screen. Tried rebooting several times and then rang Orange CS. He told me to go to Settings, Personal, Phone, Band and set Network Type to GSM. It was showing Auto. The only other option is W-CDMA Signal returned and I've got the G symbol. So, seeing as I didn't change anything, what happened there ? Also I've just set it back to Auto and it picked up a 3G signal for a few seconds but then went back to No Service. I'm guessing that this is an Orange problem rather than a phone thing.
Guest jimbouk Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 Hmmmm.... sounds like your local 3G cell has issues. I had the same happen to me with my Hermes about a year ago in SW London... it took them about about two weeks to completely fix it.
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 27, 2008 Report Posted February 27, 2008 That makes sense to me. I should have quizzed the CS guy but...you know... the footie was on :D
Guest Trevor Rowley Posted March 1, 2008 Report Posted March 1, 2008 I had exactly the same on Thursday and Orange replaced my phone for me - brand new one delivered Friday 8.30am :D
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 That's a bit unfair. The rest of us just got told to change a setting on our phones :D
Guest Nucksta Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 Although theres currently been a reported orange outage, where abouts are u in the uk?? What unit is it, and what radio firmware? Have you tried cleaning down the sim reader and sim and worse case doing a swaptest on the sim
Guest Disco Stu Posted March 2, 2008 Report Posted March 2, 2008 Uh...it's the Touch Dual in Coventry... :D Radio version is 1.58.16.27 I'm assuming the SIM / contacts are fine as I've switched Network Type back to Auto and have been getting 3G reception perfectly ever since. Others in my office (Cov-Rugby / non-WinMo) had contacted Orange with the same problem and been given similar instructions.
Guest Posted March 3, 2008 Report Posted March 3, 2008 I've had the same thing on T-Mobile. On 3G calls go straight to voicemail and SMS don't come through but if I change it to GSM everything works fine. Called T-Mobile but no-one had a clue about the handset :D
