Guest utp_ Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Just got my i780 last night!! it is working great! Looking forward for more discussion here soon.. :D
Guest euphoria3k Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 I finally got mine too! Loving it! Tried RealVGA but wasnt that impressed as the orange icons look all distorted! Wish there was a way to revert to the proper default icons! Any ideas anyone?
Guest euphoria3k Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 whats real VGA? I cant see it on mine :D http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327830 it sets the screen dpi to 96 instead of the default 128 meaning you get the real 320x320 pixel display!
Guest J273 Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 So is there an option within the phone to do this? or are you installin these cabs? Thanks
Guest euphoria3k Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 You have to install the main realVGA cab + the res pack for the 96pdi cab
Guest J273 Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Nice...thats pretty sweet Will it damage the phone at all?
Guest euphoria3k Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Nope....most htc phones with 240x320 resolution (like the Kaiser) are set to 96dpi! VGA devices (480x640) are set to 192dpi so that its easily readable! Microsoft chose to set 320x320 resolutions to 128dpi for some reason. We're simply just changing a setting. Its all handled by windows mobile so damage to the phone could happen. Is yours an Orange branded phone?
Guest J273 Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 No its a sim free generic model. So it cant cause any damage then?...i dont want to install it if its going to brick it. It looks sooo much better though....Very impressed...didnt realise u could do this. Thanks
Guest euphoria3k Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 I have never read anything to suggest that it could damage a phone and can not think of any reason! I envy that fact that you have the proper icons!! Also do you have the samsung media touch panel? Orange in their wisdom decided to remove that!
Guest J273 Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 yeah it as the media panel....Ive not really tried it though. I have noticed some of the icons dont show correctly using the 96dpi....but think ill continue to use it though.
Guest J273 Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Is there a way to uninstall this? Decided im going back to the standard setup.
Guest euphoria3k Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 Yeah just run the app and switch back to 128dpi. then go to remove programs and uninstall it!
