Guest whatmeworry Posted March 5, 2008 Report Posted March 5, 2008 I'm seriously considering getting a 4G in the next couple of months and was wondering how many RAM bays it has inside - my thinking is as follows: I currently have a MacBook with 2 x 512MB DDR RAM installed. It appears from what I've read that it uses the same type of RAM as the eee so my plan was to buy 2 1GB modules for that and stick one of the 512s in the eee to bump it up to 1GB - assuming it has 2 slots....
Guest Monolithix Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Only the one slot in the 4G. The 2G has the RAM soldered directly to the motherboard!
Guest whatmeworry Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Cheers, thought that was probably the case. 2G is definitely off the list. Just trying to decide whether to get a 4G or wait for the 900
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Also I don't think the 4G surf has the memory covering, and so you would have to open the case. Bear in mind there is also the 8G option which has 1GB already installed. I have the 4G with 2GB Ram and it flies! I dont regret buying it now, even though I will also get the 900, as it would be nice to have enough ssd free to be able to hibernate too.
Guest eeecop Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 you know wat you shud do? you shud wait for the new Asus Eee PC 900 with an 8GB solderd hard drive. and then upgrade it with a 16GB SDHC memory card and replace the ram drive to a 4GB one. :D
