Need suggestions for a new device

I have an Orange E650 (HTC S710) device atm, and I can't stand it. It’s so slow, the battery life is terrible despite the Bluetooth and wireless being off, and it’s even worse when the device is over clocked (which it has to be to be usable). I'm tired of the thing locking up on me and I hate that it won't boot with a memory card installed (Just loops round in an endless splash screen cycle). The build quality was terrible, as the memory slot & usb port covers no longer stay in after 4 months of owning the thing. I'm not a fan of the form factor either; the slide out keypad just isn't something that works for me. It is also lacking in terms of software, as I can't seem to find a decent SSH client for the thing, or any useful 3rd party software at all.

Before this I had a Treo 650, which I loved. It was probably the best mobile device I have ever owned, but something at Palm went wrong and the Treo line just seemed to stagnate before Palm went all consumers friendly with the Treo 500. The only reason I upgraded was because I dropped the thing and thought it was time to branch out a little.

So, what I am after is this. A QWERTY keypad format phone in the blackberry/Treo format, with a touch screen if possible. It must have wifi and 3G would be nice. I've seen something called the UBiQUiO 503G, which at first glance looks like it would cover anything I want to do with a phone. But reading deeper into it reveals a boat load of issues and a possibility that the manufactures have just given up on the device. Is this just an example of internet distortion of minor issues or is this device fundamentally flawed? There is also the SGH-i780, but the odd directional pad thingy turns me off. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be anything else on the market that covers this type of device. Stuff like the TyTN 2, which seems nice as a mobile computer just doesn't seem to work as a phone when I had a play with one recently. I can't imagine being able to pull off a quick one handed text while walking to work, something I could do with my Treo without issue.

I am also thinking of a Nokia E61i (or the as yet, unreleased E71), which while lacking a touch screen, has QWERTY on non-slide out keypad. Or I may just give in, and get a Nokia E51 along with a N810 tablet (I know this isn't a Nokia forum, so I'm not really expecting opinions on these devices).

So, my question is what have I missed? The only thing I can think of that’s going to be out soon is the HP IPAQ 914c, which looks amazing. Other than that, I'm not really feeling Windows mobile based phones tbh.

Well touchscreen aside...wouldn't a Treo 500 (as you mentioned) or something like a Moto Q9h suit your needs? Portrait with a QWERTY keyboard, 3G, BT/Wifi etc etc.

Or further down the line, maybe something like the Asus M536? 320x320 touchscreen Pro device with a fingerprint reader and GPS to boot! :D
