Hello, i have recent gone on trips to nyc (aproximentaly 3 a hours away) and i tried to get the GPS up and running on the bux so i could see where i was. So i started cross's GPS test and it never fully got a signal was on for 2 hours) and thus garmin was not able to run. I tried using the internal GPSTest on the bj2 and that did'nt work either. Is it harder to gain a signal when moving on the highway rather then standing still? or is there something i can do so that the GPS can get a fix faster.

I've tried to use gps inside a bus on the highway and it just cannot get a signal at all, probably because of the roof of the bus I guess it's like being indoors. In my car, I pick up the satellites in 2-5 minutes.

2-5 minutes is about the same for me too, inside my truck or even standing out in an open yard. Seems odd that it takes that long when it used to fire right up... (used to, meaning for a whole day.. lol)

before i go on a trip, i fire up my gps while i'm standing still outside. it usually is up and running in less than 30 seconds. if you use GPS Test by Chartcross LTD you can see our GPS receiver picks up the satellites almost instantly, but for some reason, it waits until it gets at least 4 or 5 green (excellent reception) before it decides to make a fix. Once it's fixed, it'll keep working even if it's down to 3 poorly receiving satellites. Most of the time though, it picks up 9-12 (I'm at the 49th parallel though, so if you're farther south, that number may be slightly less).

ya i have gotten it to work while standing still and also in a car, its just doesn't make much sence because sometimes it picks it up in like 15 mins and others it takes 30-45 mins if not at all

Is anybody having luck with it connecting indoors?

I have a Moto Q9h - downloaded the COM3 and COM5 as well as the GPSID app - got it working inside as well as outside with MS Live Search (last Saturday). Today - nothing seems to work with the GPS - very frustrating! I've uninstalled the COM apps as the battery life seems to simply evaporate over a few hours with the COM app installed. I've seen many references to a GPStest app - downloaded the .lnk file - moved it into my startup folder and launched it - but apparently the Q9h does not come native with this application in Windows as it cannot find any application to run.

Frustrated - but hopeful!

works everywhere in my house. but i've never tried starting it up downstairs... i always start it up upstairs next to a window, then it'll stay fixed whereever i go. when i was in downtown, everywhere i went it was picking up, even amongst sky scrapers (although its accuracy wasn't nearly as good -- maybe the towers are bouncing the signal? i don't know it was plotting me shifting about a lot). small stores were fine too, but when i went into a hotel, it cut out by the time i got to the elevators but immediatly picked up again when i left the building.

hopefully that gives you an idea of how strong the GPS signal is and how sensitive the BJ2 is to it.
