Hi Guys,

I went through every generation of SPV till my 5000 and I packed it in then. I got an iPhone and never looked back.

The novelty is wearing off, it is still the best phone I have ever owned, but I do need to flog it before the new one comes out and get a device that works with Exchange well.

The HTC Touch Cruize looks great... although maybe not the best for mobile email.

What do I want?

3G

GPS

Small

Decent Battery Life

I am open to any network as I have had enough of Orange and wish to dump them at long last. I would appreciate a summary of devices available that seem to rank highly in reviews - or link to a site that has reviews I can traul through :D

Cheers,

Hi, and a potential welcome back to the Windows boat :D

It aint exactly small, but I use an HTC TyTN II - And it works a charm with my job.

I do alot of world tours with bands and need a phone that can substitute my laptop on the move, as I do alot of e-mails, conf calls and also alot of blogging. And to kill time while they guys are on stage ... web browse. Like I said it isn't 'small' but it is a powerhouse. My advice is STAY AWAY from the orange model as they take the GPS away and try make you buy their own.

I swear by it, and intend to dump Orange when my contract ends and move to 3 - For a service called '3 Like Home' ... makes it cheaper.

GPS/HSDPA/Wi-Fi/3mp Cam/Full Internet/Instant Message and a whole lot of apps you will never use but is nice to know you can :(

Thanks Techy... but had the Tytn and hated it. With each generation things seemed to get worse, tytn was the last windows mobile phone I had... couldnt stand it, upgraded to mobile 6 and it was better in some areas and worse in others so packed it in. *sigh*

What I really want is a solid reliable WM6pro unit that has a browser that actually works. Having been spoilt by the apple browser I would go absolutely mad with WM6 IE... it is fecking horrid.

My boss who has owned every variant of WM device keeps going back to his Palm... I see they have just released the 500 which looks really cool. No GPS though :(

It is a no brainer. The Samsung i780 is a winner all round. On backorder now with Orange, although I may still ditch them in preference of another provider.

or now that Apple is releasing true Exchange support you could hang on for that? Think it will be available in June(?) - doesn't help your 3G issues but since mobile browsing seems so important to you you might be better sticking with iphone. (plus 3G iphone is likely this year anyway).

You could always consider a QWERTY Standard device. Something like the Moto Q9h? Incidentally if 3G is a must you'll have to sacrafice decent battery life...

using some of the tewaks that are kicking around, it is possible to use the Opera Mini Java ap as a stand along softkey shortcut, it's replaces the standars IE with a nicer feeling webpage. Looking for a phone with default browser on winmo will turn up sad. If u can tweak it with opera, any device like touch cruise will do you some good. Qwerty lacking though ... upgrades on the horizon though.
