usb y-cable (power and audio)

I want to use my BJII in my car to output its audio to my car stereo. I'd also like to power the phone at the same time.

Is there any kind of plug that will allow this?

Also, are there any other music player .cab's out that to use instead of wmp?

I'm not sure about the y cable, I haven't seen one, but I haven't really looked for one. But about the music players, TCPMP is freeware and supports a lot of formats, but has a very basic interface. PocketPlayer from Conduits is a very nice player with a library manager similar to the iPhone/iPod, but is about $20USD. Also, CorePlayer, which is built around TCPMP, but has a nicer UI is available, but I find it to be a little buggy/unfinished for a commercial product.

I'm very familiar with car audio, since I install the stuff, and your question is very interesting. But you need to be clear what interface you plan on using to your head unit. Many car stereo head units have a USB plug on them in the front or the back. In a perfect world, and maybe soon, you will be able to plug anything into it and read music from it. But we aren't quite there yet.

Here are the problems:

1.) Some, but not many, have USB inputs which will read thumb drives ("usb sticks") with mp3's on them and will also connect to Ipods and read mp3's stored on them. Best case senario, some percentage of those would be able to read the MicroSD card inserted into your Blackjack and read the mp3's on it. [the theory would be that it would work, providing that the Blackjack presented the MicroSD card as a portable storage device, and providing that the car stereo would be able to perceive the MicroSD card with good enough protocols to read mp3's on it]

2.) Some with USB inputs will read only thumb drives.

3.) Some with USB inputs have power (to charge your phone/Ipod) and some do not.

But really, I assume that you're speaking of the much more popular input on car stereos, and that is the AUX input which looks like a headphone jack. The good news with that input is the fact that it requires no real protocols, it will basically accept audio input as long as there is audio to input. [including microphones, if you ever wanna have some real fun at stoplights!!] For any mp3 player, you just need a male-to-male headphone audio cable.

Of course there is a problem with that though.

1.) there is obviously no headphone jack on the Blackjack 2.

2.) As far as I know, all attempts to buy/purchase/make/rig/fabricate a heapdphone output from the only existing port has resulted in massive headaches and less than desirable results. Ebay has many for sale, some do not even work at all, and users all over the web are breaking them in 1 to 10 uses anyways.

Best option would be to put some mp3s on you MicroSD card, and go to BestBuy, CircuitCity, Sound Advice, and anywhere else that sells car stereos, and actually try hooking up your Blackjack2 to the display models (with your usb cable). Some of them have got to be able to charge it and play mp3s too.

Sorry to ramble on, but I have alot of experience in car stereos. Now my curiosity is going crazy, I'm gonna grab my USB cable and go over to Circuit City. lol.

go to your connection settings. change the connection type from active sync to usb "mass storage". then just hook it up to your usb cd player. it will read it like its a flash drive, and charge it also.

whoa now. theres a simpler solution. there are headphone adapters made for the blackjack 2. MAKE SURE IT IS FOR THE BLACKJACK 2. I got mine off ebay for $3.99 and havent had one problem with it. I use a FM transmitter to broadcast my music wherever. It works great, even works for headphones.

Look this up before you go off and buy a whole new radio or somethin. :D

/agree. These adapters are also sold at Best Buy, but they cost like $12-$15.

This is the adapter I have and it works flawlessly. I got it on eBay a few months ago. It was quite cheap and I like the solid design so there's nothing that can break on it. I like the idea of setting the BJ2 in USB mode to "Mass Storage Device" and then using that with a USB enabled deck. I never even thought about that possibility.

Could you tell us the maker and model number of the adapter and/or the name of the ebay vendor from whom you got the adapter? I searched ebay, but all I found were adapters for the BJII with the short piece of cable attached. I found one "similar" to the one on your picture from a vendor called buy2asia, but it's for Samsung SGH U700 X820 X830.
