I didn't think it could - like the TyTN before it, it wouldn't accept the SDHC variety? ...if you can use over 2GB I'll be happy - but I was told by Orange you couldn't?

Guest Paulplex Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Course you can...i currently have an 8 GB card running in mine packed full of tunes TOMTOM maps and pics....Amazing stuff: second question then - where should I buy it from? I had a bad experience with one from eBay last year so I'm not so sure about that avenue...

Nice properly packaged SANDISK one with a USB adapter, so I'm happy with it.
Guest Mr.Clark Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 (edited) Just got me one from an Amazon store for about £32 inc VAT and P&P. Nice properly packaged SANDISK one with a USB adapter, so I'm happy with it. 12 gig for £32? That's amazing... Once HTC fix the video driver thing, a massive card will be awesome, as we'll be able to fill it full of films (I'd say music, but 12Gb is a crap-load of music). At about 200-300Mb per film, that's actually a massive number of videos too... Fantastic! May get a 12 gig (double current size) then sit and wait and see if the Kaiser 2 (or whatever the Next Best Thing is) comes out before the 32 gig card does... EDIT: Anyone looking forward to these ? (12gb for £60 seems a bargain ?) http://www.mymemory.co.uk/compatible-memor...ch?prodid=12094They've got 16Gb for £90, but both that and the 12Gb are out of stock currently (presumably that means "don't exist yet") Edited March 13, 2008 by Mr.Clark

Or did I just hear this when the largest card available was 8gb?
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Ah right ... let me try to explain. As far as I understand, some devices only support up to either 2 or 4 GB (I cant remember which). This is because they are formatted using FAT16. The SDHC cards are formatted using FAT32, which I think has a much higher theoretical limit for the disk size. However at the time SDHC was introduced and most manufacturers released compatible devices, 8GB was the maximum touted card size. Since then 12GB has been released, which should also be compatible. However personally I will be waiting for 16GB. My reason for waiting is that some devices worked fine with 4GB and 8GB cards, but were dodgy with 6GB. Therefore 12GB might also present the same problem, but 16GB could be ok. I hope that kinda explains!
Guest andrewkeith5 Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 of course theres a need for a 12 or 16gb card....my current multimedia ollection just tips 15gb, so i will finally be able to gbet rid of my zen vision:m
