So I installed Shieldzone on my BJII yesterday...

I've installed quite a few of these suckers from Shieldzone on various phones from BJ1 to Moto Q to Ipods etc. I have also installed for friends bestskinsever on several iphones. My previous impression was I liked the bestskinsever material a little better (the materials WERE slightly different).

Well, I would say Shieldzone stepped up their game on this one. Now with shieldzone you get expensive looking packaging (who cares) , a NICE squeege now that works REALLY well...better than credit cards as it does not mar the finish of the skin...and solution (same stuff, who cares).

The material now seems to be much like the bestskinsever material and the fit for the blackjack II is excellent. It took me about an hour for the install to get everything perfect...but I have had quite a bit of practice with these and they can be tricky.

Overall, I'm happy with what I paid for now..the squeegee turned out to be a big difference maker. I'd say buy one shieldzone to get the squeegee and then buy the bestskinsever if its available for your device which in this case is NOT available for the BJII.

I'll try and get pictures later but I installed this on a brand new BJII that was new out of the box so it should be perfect. It actually has good corner wrapping on the top of the phone. Pretty nice fit. (MUCH better than the shieldzone for the BJ1)

A little more to add on this one:

I've found that wearing a pair of tight fitting latex gloves works well as it keeps the oils from your hands off the device and shield.

Put the gloves on, wash them with soap, dry, and get started.

Also just putting a drop of soap in a bowl and filling with water and then dipping the shield in the bowl works better than the spray methods from my experience.

Well sir, I have to respectfully disagree here. I too ordered and installed (quite properly I must say) a shieldzone for my bj. At first it did look great and I was impressed with the quality of the material, the fit, and the overall look. But after just less than 2 weeks the the edges of the film began to peel back. Once it peels back and you dont notice it right away it dries out and you can never put it back down, even if you wet it again. The company was good with their "lifetime guarantee" and sent me a new one free of charge, even though contacting them over the phone is impossible.

My bottom line opinion of this product is that it is not worth the price you pay for it. Of course this is just my opinion and if you are satisfied with yours then I am happy for you. But I would never buy one again.

I have seen this issue before...this stems from installation error. I installed the film on my mom's Blackjack I for her 5 months ago and it still looks perfect to this day. Same thing with my Blackjack I...I constantly shoved it in and out of my pocket every day and the only pieces I had problems with were the ones I knew didn't get installed correctly.

I can understand your frustration with it though and respect your opinion. I realize this is not the solution for everyone as this is something that is very difficult to install.

:D

I do have some pictures on my camera at home and I'll see if I can post them tonight after I get home from work.

If you're talking about that invisibleShield scam, I warn you to avoid it.

The cost is too high, and it does not protect your device as they claim. In addition, their support is horrendous.

I had the extreme of cases, and I was planning on letting things go, but given their recent response, which told me they don't give a sh*t, I'm going to warn everyone I can.

I had gotten it for 50% off, and I still say it isn't work. Installation resulted in voiding my warranty because water seeped onto that white patch under the battery door. There was no warning of that.

Within a few weeks of having it installed, it ripped, dead center on my screen. I now have to risk taking it off and have NO protection on my 350 dollar phone with no warranty, or deal with this mark in the center of my screen.

I contacted them prior about the warranty issue. They refunded my money, but refuse to being issuing a warning about the possibilities of a voided warranty, refuse to reimburse me for the damages to my phone, and refuse to help me with anything further.

Each of their responses has continued to tell me "we don't give a sh*t."

Therefore, I STRONGLY encourage you NOT to buy their product. They feel their reputation of being a 3 year old company receiving "issues like mine very seldomly" makes them a reputable company.

They are a scam, and not worth it.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Water will not seep into your device unless you drench it with water which shouldn't be done anyways. How did you tear the material? I can't even stick a pen through this stuff.

These didn't all come out great but here are pics as promised. Its hard to see where it even is as it fits the phone very well.

A) I beg to differ about the water, greatly.

B ) I found it incredibly strong up until I put it down on my desk, walked away, and picked it up again. It was perfectly fine one minute, now there's a small tear.

I will not endorse their product, especially not after their incredibly disrespectful "support" I received from them.

Also, my screen is now scratched. I told them, they instructed me to throw it away. (EDIT: "it" as in the shield)

Trust me, it will begin to peel. :D

I still have shields on two separate BJ1s that aren't peeling. Install is key.

Then we'll have to agree to disagree. I've ruined a phone with water before and it was because of too much water and drenching the phone.

So it tore sitting on your desk? I find that hard to believe.

Not trying to be argumentative but your story makes no sense. I haven't had any problems before. The one time I needed a shield replaced because I messed up the install all I had to do was pay 3 bucks and they shipped me a new shield.

We have had two totally opposite experiences then.

My phone isn't ruined, but if you take off your back cover, you'll see a white sticker (hopefully yours is still white). When that gets any water on it, it turns red. Manufacturers use this sticker to detect if the phone was in or around water. When it turns red, your warranty is voided.

Mine turned red because when I used that squeegee to push the water out from under the shield as per their instructions, enough water dripped onto the sticker. Now my warranty is void, and they refuse to accept any responsibility whatsoever. With every message they sent me, they continually stated they are not liable for any damage that comes from the use of their product.

So if I sold you a gun, handed you instructions that stated hold the gun facing your foot, and pull trigger to enable it's use, but then had a label that said I am not to be held responsible for damages that may result from the use of my product, I would then be safe? It's not my responsibility if I design a product that does this?

And I'm not arguing that it's not strong. It is strong. But I'm saying its incredibly over-hyped and not worth 25 dollars. It was sitting on my desk, I came back, it was torn. I've no idea what happened, but it could not have been anything too rigorous. I agree it's a pretty strong material, but it's no where near as great as they claim it is.

If they lower the cost, maybe it would be better, but as it stands, it's not worth it.

Someone mentioned the flashy box, and everything it comes in. I would venture to say everything the thing comes with costs more then the product itself. That is what you're paying for. The name, the stuff it comes with, and their "warranty," which they refuse to honor for me.

Ahh, I see your point with the water indicator. If it came down to it for warranty you may be able to get replacements online or just take it off. I have done that before and nothing was said.

I think their warranty covers their product and not the device it is on.

Yes, but if I were to bring it to court, they would definitely be held responsible for not including proper instructions.

Lucky for them, I'm not that kinda guy....

Somehow I don't think your law suit would hold much water (no pun intended). Their instructions pretty much release them from liability of damage to your device...ironic being their product is designed to protect it! :D

If you wanna keep talking hypothetical situations here, remember if I were to sell you a gun that instructed you to point the gun downwards while pressing the trigger and you shot your foot, I would be liable whether or not I said "I am not responsible for damage to anything other than my product."

Just because they say they don't give a s***, doesn't make it okay.

If you sold me a gun, and I followed your instructions to shoot myself in the foot, You would NOT be responsible even if you had not included a disclaimer. The only way that I would have a case in court is if I were a minor, mentally incapacitated, or otherwise clearly unable to make decisions for myself. This is the United States of America, and you are responsible for your own actions. I'm fed up with this attitude of "Oh no, I f***ed something up, but it has to be someone else's fault somehow!" You had a cell phone, and water. Common sense says that if you are not very careful, you will have a wet phone. Common sense also says that things don't always go the way you expect. Terribly sorry you now have a wet phone, but unless you are mentally incapacitated in some way then nobody is liable but you. Take responsibility for your actions and stop your crying. If you can't understand how you are the only one responsible for your situation, please just leave the country. And if you could, take everyone who thinks the same way with you. Thanks. :D

heh...ideally, that's how it should be. But that's not how it is, and you're missing the point.

They claim that their installation will not do any damage unless I didn't follow the instructions properly. I followed them 100%. They failed to properly test and warn that the installation would void the warranty. NOTE that I contacted them prior to installing asking if there was any chance it would void the warranty. They said no.

Their product is also not as described. Which creates a whole different argument. I am posting here not to bitch, not to whine, but to warn others. Like I said, I'm not the kind of person who would take something like this to court. They made it this far, but they have become too over-confident. They continually pushed at me the "We have been in business for 3 years" statement. I don't care how long they've been in business. All I wanted was them to at least admit their mistake and start warning others of the potential problems that could come from its installation. They would not even do that. This is besides the fact that their 25 dollar piece of flexible plastic ripped on me...

I will therefore NEVER endorse ZAGG or any of its products.

I am going to stop posting in this topic. I think I made my point enough. If you want to take your chances with them, go right ahead, but you have my forewarning - careful with the installation - they won't help you, and if you mess it up, you're screwed. Also, don't pay full price for it.

Im agreeing with thelostsoul. If their directions tell you to put water on/in/near a phone with a squeegee, and they did not test enough and know that the water marker for the BJ2 is right near the gap between the phone and the battery, then it is their fault.

Do they tell you just to put water on it then wipe it with the squeegee? Im assuming its to remove oil/dirt from the phone before you put on the screen?
