Guest atl Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 I am trying to remove GPRSID settings (or whatever it is, the program that was offered from someone on modaco). I uninstalled the program, and it said "was not able to completely remove program" like usual. Now, I went in active sync and deleted the program folder and everything involved with it. Rebooted my phone, and go into programs, and there is the same program, but with a missing icon. When clicked on, it said "cannot find program" blah blah. How do you COMPLETELY remove programs? I did this before with another program (ifonz) and it did the same thing, but I had to hard reset to get rid of it. Any help will be appreciated!
Guest mandt Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Can you not just browse the start menu with ActiveSync and delete the shortcut?
Guest atl Posted March 12, 2008 Report Posted March 12, 2008 Can you not just browse the start menu with ActiveSync and delete the shortcut? Thank you for that, I dont know why I didnt think of that in the first place.
Guest thelostsoul Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 Simply deleting program files does not necessarily remove the program from your device. It is possible that it also installed dlls in your windows or other directories or that files remain in your registry or system databases. I recommend avoiding removing applications with your method in the future. Post here that you need help removing it, and maybe someone will be able to tell you where everything is and where to delete it.
Guest mandt Posted March 13, 2008 Report Posted March 13, 2008 ^^True^^ Though in this case it sounds like the program has uninstalled, and it's just leaving the shortcut behind, behaviour I have myself seen a few times sometimes re-installing before uninstalling works
