Guest casper508 Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Wouldn’t that be nice n useful?? The memory stick slot on my Sony VAIO is being wasted. If only they had an SD slot instead! This isn't already out there is it ? Cas
Guest yatpeak Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 There are some laptops with an inbuilt SD card slot (in Australia anyway), but they aren't very common. Why not just get a pcmcia SD reader card. Wyatt
Guest amo Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Yes, sd card readers are cheap cheap
Guest Firaas Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 It's close to coming out. They've started building SmartMedia slots on some. The problem is that it's difficult to know which type of card to support as there's probably no single card type significantly dominant over all others - and if there is, it isn't SD.
Guest simonqwerty Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 A colleague whom I work with has an SD slot on his Laptop – it’s a Toshiba T9100
Guest Tim Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Yeah, we've got some Toshiba Portege's from work and they all have them !
Guest adicken Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Anyone know where i can get a new memory card from for my SPV? It's probably been asked before but if someone has an email or web address i would be very grateful.
Guest pjc Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 try www.expansys.com not used them myself so i can't say whether they are reliable etc... try searching this forum for more info, ive read loads of threads about places to buy SD memory.
Guest MisterCurly Posted February 7, 2003 Report Posted February 7, 2003 Try Value Flash I got my 256mb sd card from there at a reasonable price inside of a week.
Guest fuctifino Posted April 9, 2003 Report Posted April 9, 2003 PCMCIA SD ADAPTERS ARE AVAILABLE.. BUT EXPECT TO PAY 60 QUID !!!!!!!!! from jessops
Guest sb Posted April 10, 2003 Report Posted April 10, 2003 The Acer 420 and i think the 430 laptop range have an sd slot. On top of that they are great VFM............However tech support is a joke!...eg "Dual boot" only means you can install different operating sytems.....not you can instal 2 or more operating sytems and choose which one to load!..........They have now changed that point on their spec sheet.
Guest yatpeak Posted April 12, 2003 Report Posted April 12, 2003 How long til it's common, I wonder? Wyatt
Guest rocknsock2k Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 why do u need an SD slot on ur laptop(i have a vaio too) surely with the usb cradle u can do everything u want through the spv as a reader, even though sd readers r cheap y invest in something ur not really gonna have a use for?...
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted April 14, 2003 Report Posted April 14, 2003 Because the SD interface on the SPV is so slow! The phone only has a serial connection to your PC, ~115kbps...
Guest jenneth Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 My Toshiba Portege 2010 has an SD slot! Very handy for transferring files between that, my iPAQ 3970 and my SPV
Guest casper508 Posted April 16, 2003 Report Posted April 16, 2003 why do u need an SD slot on ur laptop(i have a vaio too) surely with the usb cradle u can do everything u want through the spv as a reader, even though sd readers r cheap y invest in something ur not really gonna have a use for?... Built in slot would be much faster specially when it comes to transferring movies. And secondly, I dont want to be carrying around the cradle with me all the time. Agreed that card readers are cheap but a built-in one has a ring of its own  Cas
