Wouldn’t that be nice n useful??

The memory stick slot on my Sony VAIO is being wasted. If only they had an SD slot instead!

This isn't already out there is it ?

There are some laptops with an inbuilt SD card slot (in Australia anyway), but they aren't very common. Why not just get a pcmcia SD reader card.

It's close to coming out.

They've started building SmartMedia slots on some.

The problem is that it's difficult to know which type of card to support as there's probably no single card type significantly dominant over all others - and if there is, it isn't SD.

The Acer 420 and i think the 430 laptop range have an sd slot. On top of that they are great VFM............However tech support is a joke!...eg "Dual boot" only means you can install different operating sytems.....not you can instal 2 or more operating sytems and choose which one to load!..........They have now changed that point on their spec sheet.

why do u need an SD slot on ur laptop(i have a vaio too) surely with the usb cradle u can do everything u want through the spv as a reader, even though sd readers r cheap y invest in something ur not really gonna have a use for?...

Because the SD interface on the SPV is so slow! The phone only has a serial connection to your PC, ~115kbps...

My Toshiba Portege 2010 has an SD slot! Very handy for transferring files between that, my iPAQ 3970 and my SPV

Built in slot would be much faster specially when it comes to transferring movies. And secondly, I dont want to be carrying around the cradle with me all the time.

Agreed that card readers are cheap but a built-in one has a ring of its own
