Kaiser on Orange

Hi folks, new here so please be gentle. :(

I'm upgrading to a Kaiser tomorrow, and was wondering.... :D

I currently have an M3100, which has been great, but I'm not sure if I get HSDPA or not? Never seen an 'H' on screen, just 'E' sometimes.

Am I supposed to get it or not, Have unlimited Data bundle from orange, and use it for work related usage. Am I supposed to change settings etc?

And will I get it with 'Kaiser'??

Can you afford data with orange? :D

If HSDPA is available in your aria you should see an H with most phones (but it does depend on the ROM and I don't know for certain with O's ROM) Do you see a 3 or U?

Most ROMs will show G for GPRS (2G), E for Edge (2.5 G - fairly rare but O are rolling it out), 3or U for 3G/UMTS or H for HSDPA (and/or HSUPA)

What you get depends on what's available in your area. Most SIMs will do all but Orange will not give you a 3G SIM if you don't buy a 3G phone from them ( everyone else does). As your existing phone is 3G then it's far more likely that O just don't do HSDPA in your area - but with O's data prices yoy are probably lucky! Go to T-Mobile where you can have virtually unlimited data for a sensible price and their HSDPA coverage is far better!

On Orange some older HSDPA devices show a "H" but now I think they have changed it to "3G+" with a small +. You will normaly only see the "H" or "3G+" when you send/receive data on that bearer, not in idle.

O's H is only available in and around the major cities. I get it throughout London and most of the M25 region and have also seen it in Manchester.

Hi guys, thanks for the info, i'm tied to orange through work im afraid, ah well. Anyway, I have seen 3G on my service indicator sometimes, but mostly a G, or E, but never H and I work a lot in Manchester.!

Just to update, got the Kaiser working fine, and......H OMG!! :(

In Chester, and wow is that fast or what?? went to a internet site that is usually mega slow on Hermes, and it really shocked me how quick it loaded.

although i only really use for work purposes, with regard to data, im still very impressed.

Now all i need to do is work out how the hell i get the homescreen from HTC that i see in you guy's profiles and on htc demo vids! and all the functions that they have, any of you guys know what to d, ive been searching and looking here and XDA etc, and as im not tech savvy, im, a) thick!! :D :( too scared :( c) thick again :( I just don't understand what i need to do, but i'd love to learn.

Go to the Kaiser section on XDA, go into the ROM development section and look for the thread called hyperdragon by Sakajati, second post down there are the add ons. Try the first one (HTC Home)
