Guest varioIII-lover Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 hi there. my phone is freezing, i can't even make a phone call without it freezing up. onto the 2nd vario3 and HTC/t-mobile must do something to sort this out .. we can't even make a phone call without the phone freezing up! i have a load of video extracts of my problems with this phone. i am going to put them online. i am not putting up with this any more. i tried to deinstall f secure mobile anti virus on the phone. the app still boots up and now i can't see it in the remove apps list. not good. i can't uninstall it. i am fed up with this phone. major sluggish .. i can't even use it as a phone. i have to reboot and wait five minutes and hope i can get to the phone part to make a phone call .. not good not good. anyone else on this? v3-L
Guest varioIII-lover Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 by the way, i have had enough now. i don't want to go into the phone with a fine tooth comb, edit the registry, add 3rd party hacks, monitor the software on the phone .. i just want a phone that operates as a phone. i wouldn't even be able to call the emergency services if i needed to, i can't even trust the phone in an emergency! seriously not good. i am going to put these videos of what i have suffered in the last six months up and call upon HTC to furnish vario3 users with an upgrade to make these phones work as they should. let me know if you would like to be involved. V3-L (vario3-lover, when the phone works as it should).

Guest Shaftypants Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 Try a hard reset (both soft keys and stylus reset)
Guest Syphon Filter Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 .. i just want a phone that operates as a phone. Out of interest, if that's the case, why get a WinMo device? Back OT: Give it a hard reset and see how your fare with everything as it left the factory.
Guest jimbouk Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 He installs stuff and fiddles with it (which makes it worse) but complains that he doesnt want to fiddle with it to make it better. Option 1) Hard reset it and use it - following advice over which apps to install Option 2) Hard reset it and then flash it with a fast cooked rom and love it. Option 3) Throw it away and get a nokia.
Guest varioIII-lover Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 i am afraid that it is not the case of me "fiddling with it and complaining that it doesn't work". i have hard resetted this phone too many times (with the factory settings and no additional software) and suffered with the same problems as highlighted as above. and i still believe a phone should work as a phone even if it is a windows media 6 device .. could it be explained to me why this comment was made and the reasons why a wm6 device shouldn't work as a phone?
Guest varioIII-lover Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 i am going to try a fast cooked rom and love it .. i would like that option. i really would like to enjoy my phone. right now it's a redraw, ten minutes to make an sms, a phone call nightmare. what rom does everyone go for in this case?
Guest varioIII-lover Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 right, i have a problem, could someone point me to how i can manually take off by hand the sms messages, call register, contacts and emails and how to put them back on again once the phone is hard resetted?
Guest varioIII-lover Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 ok i have been thinking .. i can understand about not adding any applications which i have not done and i have hard resetted in the past to this effect. but why should i have to install a custom rom/firmware to fix a problem, why not htc release an updated rom to address the issues? i would just like some help on understanding this ..

I understand where you are coming from and also think its a bit "unacceptable". How is your phone after a hard reset? I have never used the tmobile ROM (i assume you are on T-Mo) so I dont know. But the HTC original ROM wasnt half bad. I'm now using TLR's WinMo 6.1 ROM which i think is great.

As most users are not experiencing the problems you are having, then HTC and the networks won't feel the need to address them. Read up on xda-developers kaiser forum. There are plenty of fast roms over there - but dont just flash it without doing some research.
Guest varioIII-lover Posted March 18, 2008 Report Posted March 18, 2008 i am sorry, i have never got into the world of roms for my vario 3, it might behave amazingly after flashing it. i do understand the need to be careful and research and apply another rom. i have hard resetted many times and yes i am using the t mobile rom .. i am going to get creative with the roms and see if this helps. many thanks i am going to try TLR's WinMo 6.1 ROM.
Guest varioIII-lover Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 now today, it's working ok but the redraws are a bit slow. arg. i just sprited my phone and backed up. can someone tell me where the file locations are of all the bits and pieces etc. i do hope this new rom doesn't have that bleeping f secure on it .. :D((( !!!!!! i need the file locations for the databases for the call history, contacts, sms and emails i would like to restore the data exactly as was .. also for tomtom6 the favourites would be great to know where that is because sometimes the favourites dissapear so would be nice to have a backup of it! also does sprite backup backup the t mobile original rom .. if not how can i take that off and back it up? and
