garmin on my blackjack 2

guys

please help me out here,as I am new to GPS

i installed GPSID and entered following settings ; COM4,NONE,19200,and ticked Manage Automatically

I then installed Garmin XT as per instructions found here.

the North american maps that came as default I can see.

problem start here :

when i go to settings ,remote gps i can see GPS INTERMEDIATE DRIVER on screen

but when i go to GPSINFO and enter the page wre there is ACQUIRING SATELLITES even if I leave fone for abotu 10min nothing happens.My position is not being locked.what could the problem be here?

I am in Malta ,Europe.

could it be because I have no European maps loaded?where can i download maps and were do they install?

i installed GPSTEST and even though i am trying to start it nothing is happening.

Refer to "thelostsoul's thread of tips" for more on GPS issues. But just to start, if you want to use Garmin (or Google maps or MS live search), you don't need to install any other GPS apps like gpstest, etc. Just set the gps to "intermmediate driver" and you should be set. Of course, if it's acting funky or not at all, then a hard reset is probably in order.

Garmin should work fine with the Windows Intermediate Driver...ie no need to install a hack or set COM ports.

Some work and some don't out of the box. My Blackjack II refused to work until I installed the GPSID. However did you try installing the GPSActivation patch in addition to the GPSID? Just a heads up though if you installed Paul's GPSActivator patch before the GPSID app the Blackjack II won't work unless you either hard reset the device or change the registry setting at Key name:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\Drivers\SamsungGPSHardware

modify the Value name "Interface Type" value data from COMM to PHONE

My GPS software worked fine after this. GPStest is a great tool to see whether or not your Blackjack GPS is sending signals.
