Guest Archy Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 (edited) Howdy, I just got the blackjack II, with AT&T 1. I'm trying to sync the device with my PC so I can download programs, etc. I have Windows Vista The first few times I plugged in the device, Windows Mobile Device Center said ERROR, but with no details, no log, no nothing The final few times, the program said the device was not connected even though it clearly was...as I used the Media Wizard that came with the phone and it worked fine. 2. Does anyone know if I have to sign up for the GPS Navigator portion of Telenav, in order to get the gps to actually work with the program?? I have to wait till Monday to have it activated. 3. I tried downloading Opera Mobile, and it says that it cannot install because the program is not digitally signed! ...What are we supposed to do with this battery life?? I'm sure I have to break it in a little bit, but its AWFUL, i thought my old phone was bad. I'm sure I'll think of more as I play with it. Thanks! Edited March 22, 2008 by Archy

I've used my BJ2 under Vista, but it's a little more streamlined than in XP. Under Vista, my BJ2 shows up under My Computer as a new device. Within it, I see two folders, "\" and "Storage Card" (2GB microSD). Sync'ing files doesn't seem to use the MS ActiveSync software like my XP systems use; I simply open the "\" folder, or "Storage Card" folder, and drag and drop the files I want on/off the BJ2, and Vista does the rest. 2. To use GPS in TeleNav, yes, you have to pay AT&T an extra $9.99/month. Waste of money, if you ask me, considering you can get Google Maps for free and it uses the built-in GPS just fine. Maybe you don't get pretty screens saying "turn left ahead", but it looks and feels just like Google Maps in your desktop browser and includes traffic overlays, satellite mode, and so on. 3. Battery Life ... I find if I have an app using the GPS and LCD constantly (like Google Maps), then yes, battery life is abysmal. My wife purchased a car charger for me for Christmas, and I also have an external USB-enabled battery pack that charges the phone when I don't have my car or a computer handy.
Guest Archy Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 I really appreciate the reply! When I connect the device, nothing shows up in my computer...I finally got a reply from microsoft, we'll see what they figure out. Google Maps sure got me outta a traffic jam this morning. It's nice to see exactly where the traffic ends on a highway, compared to my garmin which says 20 min delay, 2 mile ahead. But it doesn't say how long it goes for. lol. But it'd be nice to have that turn by turn direction if I ever feel like leaving the gps @ home, or I'm out w/ friends. Do you know what external usb charger you have?
