Guest squilla Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Yes, and sorry for such an irrelavant thread but I am trying to find a post, or part of a post that was on Modaco. It was someone, Paul I think, telling us about how you can tell which side your petrol cap is by the icon on the dash? Did I get that right? I dont know, which is why I am trying to revisit the post that I cant find! I have been through the search function with no luck. I tried to tell my boyfriend about it and he doesnt believe me, and i'm not sure if I understood the post properly which is why I am trying to find it again. Does anyone know where that post is? Could you please post a link if you come across it. Thanks! Maybe I just dreamt it!
Guest Confucious Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Was it here I read it? About the fuel icon in cars, if the petrol pump has the hose on the left the petrol cap is on the left and vice-versa? Is that the one you mean?

About the fuel icon in cars, if the petrol pump has the hose on the left the petrol cap is on the left and vice-versa? Is that the one you mean? Hi, Yep, that was the thread! So I am not imagining it then! Its just that when I told my chap about it we checked out a few cars and the theory was wrong which is why I wondered if I had read the thread properly! I'm glad you remember it too so i'm not going mad! :D
Guest Confucious Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 (edited) I'm glad you remember it too so i'm not going mad! :D Or it could be that we are both mad. Or that I am a figment of your imagination. You must have a very warped imagination.... :( Edited March 24, 2008 by Confucious
Guest Nottach Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 never heard about the hose telling you which side its on but most new cars have an arrow near the fuel gauge pointing to which side the tanks on.
Guest squilla Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Or it could be that we are both mad. Well we both have Ameo's, yes maybe we are mad! :D
Guest Confucious Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Well we both have Ameo's, yes maybe we are mad! :( But PK 4 ROM is due out today :D
Guest squilla Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 But PK 4 ROM is due out today :D I'll will head over to XDA developers to have a read, Thanks! I'm still not sure about installing it though, just know I will mess it up!
Guest Confucious Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Have faith - if I can do it anyone can - just hope they get it ready in time - they wont realease it until theyve ironed out all the bugs but this one could be a cracker :D

Is it as easy to install as the WM6 upgrade and will all my usual programs run on it?
Guest Confucious Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 They will provide full instructions and unless you have anything unusual all programs should run.
Guest squilla Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 They will provide full instructions and unless you have anything unusual all programs should run. Then I may just have a shot at it. Thanks for your help. :D
Guest Confucious Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Don't thank me, thank the team at xda, they're the ones doing all the hard work to make it easy for the rest of us!
Guest Monolithix Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Don't know if it was posted up on modaco, but paul blogged about it before xmas: http://paulobrien.net/well-you-learn-something-every-day Might have come up on Palringo a few times too :D
Guest Confucious Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 That's not what I was thinking of - and I'm not sure if I did read it on MoDaCo. I heard (from authoritative sources obviously) that the side that the hose came out of on the pump was the side that the cap was on - no arrow.
Guest squilla Posted March 24, 2008 Report Posted March 24, 2008 Yep, Im with Confucious on this one, im sure it was what side the hose came out and im sure I read it on Modaco, maybe in Palringo, cant think that I have read Pauls blog. Wierd.
Guest Monolithix Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 Hmm, sorry obviously didnt read it properly. I know we've discussed the arrow thing, never seen anything to do with the hose though (ever!). Just going to nip out and check mine now :D
Guest tsutton Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 I discussed about it via palringo after I noticed it and posted a photo via it.
Guest squilla Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 I discussed about it via palringo after I noticed it and posted a photo via it. Thats probably where it was then! Thanks for clearing that up for me! So is it true then, about the hose, not the arrow? My VW Sharan corresponds to the theory. Everyone nip out and check your cars! :D
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 All the recent cars I have test-drove have an arrow pointing to the side that the filler cap is. However my 2002 Saab does not.
Guest Monolithix Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 I had a brand new Astra which did not have an arrow, didn't notice the hose though! My Escort does have its hose on the correct side though :D
Guest Confucious Posted March 25, 2008 Report Posted March 25, 2008 My car is so old it was made before they discovered petrol....
