What would be a good GPS application that would strictly use GPS and no data (internet). Or a app. that you could just download maps to your smartphone?

I use Garmin Mobile XT - but it's not a free application, and is rather expensive.

Route 66, working like a charm now..

Things I did with/for GPS / steps I took;

1. Application Unlock my device

2. Installed Google Maps (go stand outside!, takes a couple of minutes to track GPS sattelites at first, so be patient)

3. Installed GPSID Settings (interface for configuring your GPS settings)

4. Configured GSPID (Program port: COM4, Hardware port: LEAVE THIS AT '(None)', Hardware Port Baud Rate: 9600, select Manage Automatically)

4.1 If you did f*ck with hardware port (like me) and your GPS doesn't seem to work anymore, then you need to do some registry editing to get your GPS working again.. discussed in another thread.. works great now..

5. Installed GPS Test (good program to test GPS signal)

6. Installed Route 66

GPS is working perfect with the applications I use.. GPSTest, Google Maps and Route 66.. no problems at all..
