save text messages

is there a way to save texts to your computer or back them up in some way...i'm getting a blackberry curve but i need to save the texts i have on my blackjack...can i transfer them or something

I'd also like to know this as well.

I want to hard-reset my BJ2 and but first I want to back up/save all of the text messages I currently have and then put them back on the device after the reset. If someone could provide basic instructions on how to do this I would appreciate it very much!

There's a service/program called Dashwire that allows syncing of SMS to their servers for free. Not sure it'll help you with getting them on your Blackberry, but here's the site:

Thanks for the tip, Dashwire looks sweet - but I don't think it helps either of us.

All DashWire can do with SMS is read SMS from the phone and copy it to the web - It can't go the other direction.

It CAN go the other direction with contacts/speed dials/web favorites, so if you lose your phone (and thus your contacts), you can get a new phone and have DashWire restore all of that information but unfortunately not the SMS.

Does anyone else know a way to back up SMS messages and then restore them after a hard reset or on a new phone?

On the "Backup" tab, it does show folders for SMS Inbox, Sent, MMS Inbox etc... but it did not find any messages that I have on my phone (?!)... (does not seem to work) but maybe someone knows what is the problem with it ... ?

For backing up on WM devices only, I use PIM Backup http://www.dotfred.net/ You can save the file it generates anywhere/transfer it accross to a PC. I doubt it does cross platform backups though...

There are a few applicatinos around that can backup your SMS etc, things like Sprite backup and another called EasyHelper for example.

I do not backup my own SMS and so can not say how well they work.
