Build Quality

Hello all,

I've just upgraded to an MDA Touch plus. I've notices the build quality is not great really.

The slide out keypad has 3 scratches going vertically up the keypad like part of the internal mechanism is scratching the surface as the keypad is slid in and out of the phone. Also, the back cover has become very creaky since opening it twice since I got it. I do of course take care when I take the cover off.

The two slide parts of the phone don't seem to sit well together either as there is quite a lot of play in them as you can move it from side to side.

Apart from that, I love this phone!

Is yours the same??

I don't have the T-Mob version, but an unbranded HTC one...I don't have any sense of flimsiness - there is a bit of play between the two halves of the phone, in so much as I can push them together, but it is really minimal. I certainly don't have any scratching on the keypad - is there something in yours? A bit of grit, maybe?

I love the phone, but wish it had quadband and GPS capability.

Apart from that it is untouchable (no pun intended)

I've got the t mobile version of the touch dual. And I would say the build quality is a hell of a lot better than my vario II was (hermes) so far had it 3 months and am very happy with it. The size and flush screen makes all the difference. GPS would be nice but Ive got a bluetooth one. The only thing I miss every now and then is the WIFI

Build quality wise top knotch no scratches or anything

Gotta agree. Used to have a Wizard, and that thing died on my too many times. Had the Niki for a while and it seems awesome -- apart from the smudgey fingers, but a quick wipe with the inside of my shirt fixes that :D The slider thing is normal, you can't expect it to not slip slightly, but in no way does it effect the running of the phone.

Cheers for the replies.

T-Mobile have replaced my phone under the 28 day rule. They said that the demo touch plus they have is scratched on the keys but no where near as bad as mine was.

The new one I have so far is fine. The back plate is tight and the keys don't appear to be scratching!

What is the 28 day rule?

My screen has stopped working on my Dual and it is 28 days old today.

I switched from normal profile to vibrate this morning and the screen went odd - it was as if the display had rolled around so the top 1/3 was at the bottom and the other 2/3 above it. Then it went completely blank. I can switch the phone on and it boots because it vibrates when I ring it but nothing displays on the screen.
