Guest newms81 Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 My BJ2 was just stolen and I had to replace it. I had no problem performing all the mods I wanted with my first one, including unlocking the phone, installing google maps and other applications, and customizing my home page. With the new phone I can't do anything. I followed all the same steps, starting with unlocking the phone. I can drop the xml file of the new home screen in the appropriate folder but it doesnt appear on the list of home screens. (same xml file that was successful with the first BJ2) SurrealNetworksAppUnlock appeared to install, but I was unable to install google maps both before and after attempting to unlock the phone. I feel that I'm either overlooking something or have a defective phone. Any ideas? Thanks, Ken
Guest thelostsoul Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Maybe it's just something wrong with the way it came configured...try a hard reset and retrying your apps... Turn it off and hold up on the dpad while you turn it back on. Just remember this will delete all data on the phone and encrypted memory cards (not unencrypted SD cards) so backup stuff...

I should have mentioned I already tried that, thanks though. I know someone can help overcome this... I'm already on my third phone, would hate to have to get a 4th.
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Without knowing the device personally it could be possible that the ROM version on the new device has been updated from your last device. This could account for some of the problem you are having. What ROM version do you have? may be worth checking with an older device.

CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2) Radio Version i617UCGK2 Processor: ARM926EJ OMAP1710 Operator, ect: 5.2.1620.18125 Though this is certainly possible I feel its unlikely because my previous phone and this were both shipped new from AT&T within 3 weeks. Thanks again...
Guest jonathanbaker1 Posted April 4, 2008 Report Posted April 4, 2008 Another thing to try: the older unlock method (which I successfully used many times) which involves provisioning the security policies through your connected PC. It is outlined here, yes the instructions are for the Moto Q but applies to the Blackjack also. This should allow you to tweak and install with no problems... just a thought. By the way, my device has all the same versions as yours. But I have not tried Surreal App Unlock since the provisioning method worked fine.
