Guest thelostsoul Posted April 10, 2008 Report Posted April 10, 2008 (edited) ATTENTION: The original creator of this script (JZ SmartMort) has created an updated version of his script that also supports the Blackjack II. My original intention when I modified his was to simply make it Blackjack II compatible. This project is now redundant, and I have decided to cease any further modifications. I strongly recommend you use the latest version from JZ SmartMort's thread at XDA-Developers which is located HERE ---------- For archive/backup purpose, the original thread follows: ---------- Many people prefer not to use IE, but Opera Mobile is not a viable solution to a lot of people either. The new Opera Mini 4.1 is great, but having to run Start - Programs - Applications - Java - Opera Mini is just too time consuming. Finally a solution! First, let me thank XDA-Dev's member Menneisyys, who originally created this method. His topic is here if you would like to see the original (NOTE: his scripts do NOT work on the BJII!) Now on to how to do it: 1) Download the attached ZIP archive. 2) Extract the "Mortscript-4.11b7-SP.cab" to your device and install it to "Device." 3) Extract "Esmertec Jbed 20080222 3.1.cab" to your device and install it to "Device" **NOTICE: Other JBed version should work, including ones that install to SD cards, but this version will not install to the SD card. 4) Extract and copy the "JZ" folder to your \Program Files\ folder so that you have \Program Files\JZ\[contents of the JZ folder] 5) Install Opera Mini 4.1 to your device by going to http://mini.opera.com/beta or by installing the included JAR file. **NOTE: Install it to the new JBed application, not the default Java system. Use Start - Programs - Java; NOT Start - Programs - Applications... 6) Execute the file \Program Files\JZ\JZ SmartMort Install.mscr and select "Install" - Press OK. Now it is installed, and most applications should ask you which browser to run when you click on a URL. If you want a direct shortcut to Opera Mini 4.1 in your start menu, extract the "Opera Mini 4.1.mscr," also included in the archive, to your \Windows\Start Menu folder. Some notes: -Using the default Messaging application will always call Internet Explorer. That is unfortunate and cannot be changed. FlexMail works fine with this application though. -Some other applications will have the same problem as above if they do not properly call the default system browser. -When opening a URL in Opera Mini, you will see that it enters the text double pressing each letter, then going back and removing every other letter. This is an issue with MortScript that I will correct as soon as Mort comes up with a solution. -Repeat step 6, selecting "Uninstall" to restore IE as the default browser. -The script only works with Opera Mini 4.1, but I can add other version if enough people request it.Opera_Mini_41_6608NEW.zip Edited June 7, 2008 by thelostsoul
Guest thelostsoul Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Well I see you all really liked this application....since I forgot to attach the files....lol Ah well, I guess it doesn't matter if I put off uploading it again for another day because I gotta copy the files off my phone to get 'em....
Guest thelostsoul Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 Right...my apologies, it is now attached to the initial post.
Guest thelostsoul Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 *Updated Latest version now supports the official release of Opera Mini 4.1.
Guest matteandhue Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 (edited) *Updated Latest version now supports the official release of Opera Mini 4.1. Thanks, I got the following JZsmartmort version that is currently working on blackjack II (well I think it is)from here. It looks like the post you updated in your archive is an old post. Here's a newer post that looks like the same but has been updated. You can view it by clicking here. However, I'm interested in trying yours here in a short while. I'm on Modaco forums more than xda-developers because of the phone I have so I'll keep you up to date. *NOTE ABOUT SHORTCUT* Also if someone wants to create a shortcut without using the mscr you can by creating a shortcut and adding the parameter s?_ The question mark being the number of the java midlet. The only thing is you must make sure the character #s are correct. Total Commander does not do it properly. Edited June 6, 2008 by matteandhue

I would rather have folks tell me if something is not working so I can fix it for everyone. The problem for BlackJack II was fixed by adding different pasting methods for Opera Mini. In the future it will be a lot harder to manually use my scripts like described in this post because I now distribute them in a CAB file, which makes registry entries that my scripts will expect to be in place. Please pick up the official JZ SmartMort CAB file from XDA-Developers or from SourceForge. Here are some screenshots and features below... 1. Copy/Paste 2. Clipboard History 3. Multi-Browser handler (Opera Mini, Opera Mobile, NetForce, Skyfire, IE) 4. Default browser with a timeout 5. Opera Mini shortcut creation on the Start Menu 6. Hardware button mapping to JZ SmartMort functions 7. Many other features, hacks and tweaks which I plan on continuing to grow. Thanks! JZ Edited June 7, 2008 by JZ SmartMort

Guest matteandhue Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 Yes, both this topic and this one have been really informative and useful to make the browsing experience on a windows mobile phone more productive. I have really appreciated thelostsoul and JZSmartMort with their help. I am currently experimenting with this to keep both users as well as others informed.
Guest matteandhue Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 I posted on XDA-Devs explaining the issues, received no response, so I went ahead and fixed it myself. Look at my code, work from there. As I said there (and didn't get help with) - the blackjack II does not use ctrl c or v for copy/paste. When this command is sent, only the C is accepted by the device. Also, it was not searching for the correct line, nor was it searching for the location of the java engine before I edited it myself (an older version probably). When I fixed it, I also posted at xda-devs, linking to this thread. I did not get a response, and gave up. I left the line "First, let me thank XDA-Dev's member Menneisyys, who originally created this method. His topic is here if you would like to see the original (NOTE: his scripts do NOT work on the BJII!)" because that was the credit you deserved. If "Menneisyys" is not you, I apologize, but I couldn't care less at this point to be honest. Please see my PM to you, which I will send in a minute. I really hope I didn't start a quarrel on these forums. I was just sharing everything for knowledge to everyone. I apologize if I have stirred things up. -matteandhue

Aside from that, I would like to request this thread be locked by any admin/mod who sees this. As indicated by my above edit, this thread has served its purpose, and is no longer of use.

Consider this post D.E.A.D :D
Guest JZ SmartMort Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 I posted on XDA-Devs explaining the issues, received no response I'm still waiting for a reply on XDA-Dev's on whether SHIFT-INSERT works on a BJII... If "Menneisyys" is not you, I apologize I am not Menneisyys --- Anyhow, I think we hashed things out privately. I would really appreciate feedback if something is not working as the goal of my software is for it to function on all hardware.

Guest thelostsoul Posted June 7, 2008 Report Posted June 7, 2008 I just sent you a PM, I think this thread should still be locked either way. I'll keep posting on the thread you linked to, and communicate via PM to help iron out the problems. Thanks for clearing things up.

The new version will have a "Create Opera Mini Start Menu Shortcut" feature which will run a sophisticated/dynamic Mort script of mine. Dynamic because it is not bound to a certain JBed app ID, but rather checks for that ID at run-time. HOWEVER --- I will also add another function (under a menu called "Tweaks / Hacks"), which will parse through JBed apps and allow you to selectively add a shortcut onto the start menu for any JBed app. This function will NOT run my dynamic script but will rather use the old method and create the shortcut straight to jbed.exe and pass the s?_ app ID. I believe this is exactly what you were looking for.

For Opera Mini, here's the code I had in the launcher for that archive: utf_file = ReadFile(RegRead("HKCR","jarfile\Shell\Save\Save Location","") & "\selector.utf", 0, "utf") counter = 0 ForEach line in split (utf_file,"^LF^",1) counter = counter + 1 If(Find(line,"suite=Opera Mini, \")) prog_line = Part(utf_file,"^LF^",counter+3,1) prog_line = Part(prog_line,"=",2) prog_id = Part(prog_line,",",1) jbed_params = "-DFile.maxStorageSize=20M -run " & prog_id EndIf EndForEach Run(Part(RegRead("HKCR","jarfile\Shell\Open\Command",""),"""",2,1), jbed_params) ...if it helps any...

Guest drdownload Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 is there a way to always set the option to leave the vm running in the background?
Guest JZ SmartMort Posted February 25, 2009 Report Posted February 25, 2009 is there a way to always set the option to leave the vm running in the background? What do you mean by "VM"?
Guest JZ SmartMort Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 eg. the jbed jvm. Yes, under JZSettings > Browser > Opera Mini Options > Kill Jbed = Off Make sure to get the new version of my software, not what version you're running... and post problems on that site referenced below. You lucked out that I still get notified about this thread. Official thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382043
