Inquiry - WM 6.1 ROM Availability for Blackjack II

Hi All,

I just purchased a Blackjack II - nice phone, so far - and I've been reading through the forums here, but of course, no one can know all; so I'm curious if anyone has caught recent wind of any further info regarding when WM 6.1 will be available for this device.

Quite frankly, what I'm really looking forward to being able to do is wipe the ROM clean (just as I'm about to do with my HTC Tilt (as I call it)). I can't stand this AT&T ROM. I just want to wipe it clean as I'm sure so many of us would like to and start fresh, eliminating the bloat, the GPS issues (hopefully - including the issues that couldn't be resolved with the unlock), and whatever else needs to go.

While I'm at it, any word from the Chefs?

Nottach has covered the 6.1 issue many times, he has a topic here that you can check out and there's plenty of posts here in Modaco about it. I think they keep pushing the release date back. If you're looking for some cooked roms for the Tilt (which is really easy to re-flash, I had it's older cousin the HTC 8125) head over to the forums at xda-developers for some more info and roms. Most/all of the cooked roms contain unlicenced software, therefore against Modaco rules.. If you just want to get rid of the ATT crap on your Blackjack, there's plenty of info here on how to do it. Mostly, it involves editing the Windows Mobile registry in various ways. CeRegEditor is available here, and is free... it's also easy to use.

I've seen all the info on XDA regarding the Tilt ROM's, unlocking, and so forth - I've spent quite a bit of time over there - so I'm good in terms of all that. I had also read that thread over at HoFo. I've pokin' around here and there. :D

But I'm waiting for someone to cook up a ROM that we can flash to our BJII's that will wipe everything out - nice and clean - while adding WM 6.1. Ultimately, I'm looking to do more than just a bit of surgery (which I may have to do, for now) because that alone won't solve many of the GPS inconsistencies, among other things. After all, there's nothing like a nice, fresh ROM.

Just wanted to see if there was any recent word, but thanks, just the same, for the links.

I am wondering the same thing...though I have a Tilt and my son has a BJ2.

Guess the Tilt has a serious upper hand in the cooked ROMs arena. (larger fan-base)
