Guest ascian Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Do the xml hacks for the blackjack 1 (i607) work on blackjack 2? I want to get rid of the Cingular text on the home screen that shows your current network. As an aside, why haven't they changed that to AT&T?
Guest Nottach Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 Open the xml of the homescreen youre using in any text editor and replace "" with what ever you want it to say. eg: "" changed to "My Phone". Or just delete "" all together. Obviously w/o the quotes.

I just deleted outright and it didn't work either
Guest Nottach Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 I just deleted outright and it didn't work either The original homescreens may be read only so save as something else. make simple.home.xml or whatever simplecustom.home.xml let me know if that does it. if not i'll make one for you and upload it to this thread.
Guest Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 (edited) well i thought that same thing, so i copied it over back to my desktop, and it was still as i had changed it but yeah i just copied it to my computer again, saved it as a different name and it works fine thanks :D Edited April 16, 2008 by Guest
Guest Nottach Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Good stuff, glad to hear you got it to work.
Guest JeepinCalifornia Posted April 18, 2008 Report Posted April 18, 2008 I'd been thinking about this and I'm glad the question was asked. I deleted some text (on the line mentioned above) awhile back, but left , so I ended up with a little "AT&T" underneath the Time on Samsung Calendar...I would think that I'm doing something right. But after seeing this post, I tried removing as mentioned above, and it's still not working for me - the file is not listed as an option. Even after restoring to the line, the file is not listed. Properties has shown that my re-saved/re-named files have been XML files and, "Read Only" is not checked... Help, please?

Help, please? im not sure what you mean or even did, because it seems like you didnt even follow instructions, you were suposed to remove nothing else. this is what you do. find your home screen xml, then pull it over to your desktop, via copy. then right click, then go to properties, and uncheck "read only" then open it in notepad, then edit it to go from (pic number one) to pic number 2 then renamed it to something else, i.e. somethingelse.home.xml (only change the first part) then put it back to read only,a nd drag it back to your aplication data/home dir and you should see two of one type of home screen, the org one and it will most likey be the second one of the two of the same type (to change the name that is shown, i think its somewhere in the xml, but i havent found it yet, im sure someone could tell us) this should help, i hope
Guest JeepinCalifornia Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 Thanks for the effort. I gave some extra information that confused you. In short, I did follow the directions, ultimately to no avail. Everything was done--to the Samsung Calendar Homescreen XML file--the way you suggest. In the end, there were two of the same homescreens under the same name, just as you suggest, but no difference in either when I applied them. Before: <!----> After: <!---->
Guest Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 and you are saving the edited one as a different file name right? and your phone is app unlocked(not sure if this is nessecary, but dosent hurt)?
Guest JeepinCalifornia Posted April 20, 2008 Report Posted April 20, 2008 (edited) and you are saving the edited one as a different file name right? and your phone is app unlocked(not sure if this is nessecary, but dosent hurt)? Yep, and yep! If I remember correctly (and that's a big if): in the original Samsung Calendar XML code, there was "Cingular" before . In my original post above, I mentioned that I had "deleted some text awhile back." I removed "Cingular," and is the only thing I removed originally. This changed "Cingluar" on the Samsung Calendar (and Simple) Homescreen, automatically replacing it with a smaller sized "AT&T." So we know I have successfully edited, saved, and used an XML, but removing isn't doing anything.....so I wonder if removing this particular text is simply not applicable to the Samsung Calendar XML?
