Program Files directory on SD card empty

Seemingly completely out of the blue, the contents of the Program Files directory on my Kaiser's SD card emptied yesterday. Furthermore, I tried installing a program today (onto the SD card), and after connecting to my computer the folder had gone from SD Card\Program Files. What's even stranger is that I tried copying files back into the folder from a backup of the SD card that I had (I was doing the copy over activesync), and then the files that I had copied disappeared again. Finally, I tried just now copying a file from one folder to SD Card\Program Files (just doing it standalone on the Kaiser, not connected to Activesync), and the file copied successfully, but then wasn't in the folder...

Anyone have any ideas? (Using XP btw...)

So, I seemed to have resolved the problem, though I have no idea what caused it. I deleted the (now empty) Program Files folder off the SD card, and then replaced it from the backup, and it (for now) seems to be ok...
