Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 From the Evernote blog... The new Evernote closed beta is about two months old and we’ve just passed an important milestone: our first one million notes! During this time, we’ve made lots of improvements to the service and we’ll be announcing a few more big things in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned. To celebrate (and to do some stress testing on our registration servers), we’re giving away instant beta accounts to everyone who clicks on this secret url (http://preview.evernote.com/Registration.action?code=1MN0tes) from 6 am to 9 pm, California time, today. If you miss the time window but want an account, just sign up using the normal beta application and we’ll send you an invitation soon. Big thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to test Evernote and send us feedback! We couldn’t do it without you. Sign up for FREE while you have the chance! Seriously! I've been using Evernote for a couple of months now on web / Mac / WinMo, and it's cool! Think of it as a respository for every bit of information you want to store. In their own words "Evernote allows you to easily capture information in any environment using whatever device or platform you find most convenient, and makes this information accessible and searchable at anytime, from anywhere". Head on over to the what is Evernote page for a tour, then sign up, download for the desktop of your choice and the mobile device of your choice! P [Via: Pocket PC Thoughts]

Guest pd.ryder Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 So it's the same as Microsoft OneNote, then? Does it improve on the OneNote experience somehow, apart from being free? :D
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 OneNote doesn't sync everything online... P

Guest FrankyG Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Has anyone got the mobile app running on HTC kaiser? I've got a WM6.1 ROM on mine from XDA-Dev forum but the evernote mobile app refuses to launch. I uninstalled it, and then used the exe installer to try again. Same problem, just won't launch, although it reports successful installation. Both installs were to main memory. ANyone have better results?! FrankyG

FrankyG Hi; I have TLR's Vario III ROM installed and have no issues with the evernote mobile client.... not that that helps you that much. Also have no experience of OneNote - so can't comment on that but one of the cool things that Evernote does is the ability to search for words in pictures.. This is really cool if for example you want to capture the details pf a business card or expense reciept you can take a picture of it with your WM phone, then email that picture to your "evernote email" - This puts the picture in your notes files... so you can now search the your notes files for the photo's of the business cards you have.... hmmm - that builder was called bob - what was his number? Also take a look at this for another cool use... (neat receipts here i come.... (anyone used them in the UK?)) http://hherbzilla.blogspot.com/2008/01/per...y-marriage.html SF Edited April 28, 2008 by Shadowfixeruk

SF Yup - OneNote has that covered. I guess the biggest advantage this app has over OneNote is its free and not attached to a pricey Microsoft bundle - Office 2007. :D
