apps just shutting down and taking me back to the home screen?

I'm new to this forum, and new to smart phones. Recently my phone has started to just shut down the app I am running and take me back to the home screen. I can get back into the app at the same place I left off, but it is a real hassle when it should not be happening in the first place. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for your help.

How much system memory do you have available?

If you get back to the same place in the app then the app isn't closing, it's still in memory. Are you sure you are not just pressing the Home key by mistake?

Check your home screen timout at setting-display-homescreen.

It was the home screen timeout. Thanks. I thought I changed it to 10 minutes, but it was set to 10 seconds. I kinda fee like an idiot. lol. Thanks again.
