Guest awarner (MVP) Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 I do a lot of archery and I am trying to get a simple method of scoring handicaps etc by using Excel. My plan is to have a working set up that can be used quickly on the pc and the pocketpc. I have a basic format at the moment but now for my question...... At the moment I have everyones scores on a single work sheet but what I would like to do is have a front page where I select the archers taking part and in what order they are shooting in. After this front page I would like then to have each of the archers on a seperate worksheet and the worksheet labled with the name of the archer in question. I'm fairly basic with excel so not had experience with macros etc (I can just about do a drop down box) Any advice if it's possible or not? Here's a sample with one archer at the momentArcher_basic_layout.zip
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 Just tried the workbook on the PPC only to find out that the drop down boxes do not work :D Looks like Ptab has this feature but excel mobile does not. I needed this so more than one member of the club can use this on their PPC as we take tuns in scoring.
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 I did have a look at it, but excel on the PDA is not particularly functional. Might be easier to make a mini app with a little database behind it.
Guest SheepWorrier Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Excel on the Pocket PC doesn't run any macros as far as I know... I've tried porting several macro-ridden spreadsheets from PC to PPC in the past with no success :D

Guest awarner (MVP) Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Thanks for the replies, building an app is beyond me unfortunately. There are a few nice applications around like bow buddy but they are only designed for groups of four. We normally have around eight people shooting at a time.
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Im terrible at writing apps too. But Im sure you could persuade a couple of members of this community to help you create an app. You'd need to tell them the calculation criteria etc ... and they could probably build an interface.
