Guest matteandhue Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 i have my gmail set up in outlook 2007 via IMAP as well as on my phone but not sure if syncing is necessary since it is server based. when i try selecting the imap folders in WMDC there is no option to do so. is there a way to do this? is it even necessary? I also know that i use gmails labeling and would like some of that content synced as well. thanks and im new to the forums so bare with me as i have not searched to see if any pre-existing topics exist about this.
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Hi, Welcome to MoDaCo. I guess the question that needs to be asked, is "what would you wish to achieve from syncing?". Personally I sync my email, calendar and contacts with my mail server, so that at any point in time, I can use my handset, outlook 2007 or web interface and get a picture of my calendar, or an up to date contact information etc. If you just want to be alerted to new incoming emails, then maybe it's not necessary and just sync the inbox.

I don't have a mail server unfortunately. I just have gmail. I would like everything to be push email but haven't found a way to really get everything working the way I want. I wouldn't mind having a different mail server, but I'm sure there isn't any free ones.
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 If you have a search onthis forum, some people have found solutions to push the email, contacts and calendar from gmail.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Check out the push solution from http://www.consilient.com, pretty good! P
