I am at a loss. I know this topic has been exhausted, but I did not want to post this in a different thread and complicate someone else's problem.

I cannot get my GPS to work and it is really driving me nuts.

I have tried Google Maps, GPS Test, and Live Search and none of them have picked up my GPS chip (used COM4 and Baud 19200). Then I tried GPSID with no luck. Then I tried "MoDaCo SmartphoneGPSActivator COM4" with no luck. I really do not know what else to do...I just want my phone to actually do what it is supposed to do.

Ebroder592, dear brother :D, see if this helps you. I suggest that you start simple and re-do most of what you did, it may help to identify the problem at least.

1. Sync your device (backup)

2. It may be necessary for you to do a hard-reset (power OFF, hold UP as you power ON, select reboot and format).

3. Create a link to your GPStest.exe so that you can run it (This is NOT(!) the Chartcross GPSTest.exe v.1.04 http://www.chartcross.co.uk/products/WM00002_details.asp) but the one in your BJ2. You will not be able to see this file! You have to create a link to it in the "Start Menu" folder. To do that use ActiveSync and copy the link that good people posted here: http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach...st&id=23422

4. Now find it in Start Menu, and run GPStest

5. You will see only "0"s everywhere, do NOT be discouraged, select Menu->Start ... :(

Let your device on a window porch/or outside for 1-2 min. It should acquite at least a few satelites.

I hope you get your GPS to work. I had a long day of trying myself, but bear with the process and should get it.

Other notes:

* Google Maps need to have a setting (Menu->Options...->GPS Settings) "Set by Windows" if you want to use the GPSID (Mircrosoft Driver). In this case you do not need the "GPS Activator" hack to enable COM4 port.

* You need the GPS Activator (hack) and "GPSID Settings" utility (http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=23385) only if you want to run an application that uses COM4 - such as "GPS Test" by Chartcross Ltd (this utility is pretty cool!).

* Try setting baud rate at 9600, I believe that I too could not get GPS Test by Charcross to work with higher speed (at least while I was trying to get it to work).

* Last but not least, much of all this goes to "thelostsoul" and "Paul (MVP)", see their posts, for example: http://www.modaco.com/content/samsung-i617...-blackjack-ii/# (post #17).

Im not sure about that, As for the BLACKBERRY post...I dont know about that either. I doubt Garmin will work with a BLACKBERRY, because it doesnt have the Windows Mobile or Symbian OS, but im not sure! Sorry!

hi i had the same problem, i dont know if this is the solution

i read everysingle gps thread on here and couldn't figure why it wasn't working.. finally i figured it was my bluetooth so i turned it on and it instantly worked...it took less 20 seconds to locate satellites.

-i started from scratch with a hard reset

-installed only gpstest & garmin mobile xt

-turned on bluetooth

happy days :D
