[Edit: Check out the full topic for updates!]

I'm sitting at Heathrow right now about to head out to Möbius 2008 in Seattle, an event i'll be reporting on here as the week progresses.

What is Möbius?

Fellow Möbius member Arne from the-unwired actually sums up the event very well...

If you haven't heard about Möbius before, it's an invitation-only community (with roughly 100+ members now) of the world's most influential technology pundits and online writers/bloggers, initiated some years ago by Microsoft. The yearly Möbius conference brings together around 25 Möbians which normally interact behind the scenes with companies, big and small, to shape the direction of devices, services, pricing, design and the culture of consumer technology.

As with every Möbius event, Microsoft will host a variety of speakers, from across the industry, who will talk about general mobility issues, industrial design, new applications and of course provide sneak peeks into future products and this time the attendance of some ODMs seems to be confirmed already as well as Microsoft will provide some further product and service updates.

However the best part of Möbius is having a very open and honest dialogue and even healthy debate about the industry, technologies and initiatives that are shaping the future of mobility especially because Möbius isn't about Windows Mobile only but Microsoft always invites a good mix of tech bloggers and journalists from different areas including Windows Mobile and Symbian as well as bloggers which covers a broader range of devices.

Initially initiated by Microsoft, Möbius became a self-runner over the years and it's not about the annual conference only but there is a strong interaction and friendship between Möbians during the rest of the year (for instance we meet once a year at the Mobile World Congress), including discussions and opinion-sharing.

Some of the sessions will be completely open and i'll be free to report on them, others will be governed by handshake-NDA, so I won't be free to discuss the content here. I'm anticipating we'll have some good tidbits of info for you once the event kicks off on Wednesday however, so stay tuned :D

I do hope you'll be mentioning that MS has about 3-6 months to sort out their OS or risk a mass exodus to iPhone. :D

Reminded of it again today while I was waiting for my Vario III to catch up with my typing so I could go back and insert the characters that it would inevitibly miss out on. Oh and when I was last trying to browse the net in garbled, screwed up web pages that load slowly and hang endlessly.

Remember to bare your left breast as you enter the building.

Paul,

I noticed from some pics on geardiary.com that you guys got to look at some of the unreleased phones for WinMo yesterday. Can you tell me what your thoughts were on the Velocity Mobile phones (103 and 111)?

The velocity phones were clearly preproduction, so pretty uninspiring at this time...
