Guest coolguyjess Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 For some reason, every once in a while the end key on my i617 will not end my call or whatever app im using. When I finally manage to get to the homescreen, if i hit end, it searches my contacts for the letter s. Each time i press it, it adds another s. I first had this problem when running TCPMP, ending it seemed to work. Now, even if it isnt running this problem still happens. Anyone have any idea why this could be going wrong? I have unlocked my phone and modified the registry, but i had this problem before doing this. Has this happened to anyone else?
Guest Confucious Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Welcome to the forums. Strange problem, not heard of that before but can't see it being software related, it sounds more like a hardware problem a warranty claim?
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Sounds like a sticky key but the only way to be sure would be to do a hard reset and restore the device to it's factory settings. Unfortunately this means losing everything you have put on the phone. Just make sure you have your contacts etc sync'ed with your pc before you do a hard reset.
Guest Confucious Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Good advice maybe I should go and edit my first post to make it look like I thought of it :D
Guest jfreml Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 I've had this same problem, too! I'm glad I'm not the only one. Usually turning my phone off and on takes care of it (although that's really annoying to have to do).
Guest Krupa Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Funny! I've had the SAME EXACT PROBLEM!! I've found that this happens when the phone overheats. Maybe a circuit shorts out or something inside...usually if you turn the phone off and then on the problem will go away or you can just put it in your pocket for a while and get it out of the sun. Either way stops the problem (at least for me).
Guest gadgetluva Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 I've had that problem, I think it had something to do with a software conflict. After I hard reset, I don't have the problem pop up at all anymore. I forget what I had installed that I don't anymore.
Guest matteandhue Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 This has happened to me before. I'm think what Krupa says about overheating being an issue because it happened to me while charging my phone in a very hot car and my phone was very hot. The qwerty keyboard even felt like the buttons had lost their *clicky* feel to them. Also, for those of you who run Omapclock, just as a suggestion try using default processor speeds and see if it still does it.

This also happened to me while i was running Smart Toolkit. I have not used it for at least 2 months, and it has not happened since. Just a thought
Guest Lyal Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 I had this problem due to trying to change the hot keys in TCPMP. I tried to assign the end key to something and this started happening. I redid my setup and soft reset my phone and it worked fine again. hope this helps!
Guest SeanH Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 I had this problem on the BJ I and the BJ II. SeanH
Guest thelostsoul Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 TCPMP, CorePlayer, and any other program that doesn't properly bind/unbind the keys will cause this problem. STK is very likely to also cause the problem. A soft reset should solve the problem, until you run the program again. Avoid using the Volume Up, Volume Down, End, Send and any other buttons that control phone functions in programs that allow you to select different actions for specific buttons.
Guest skiergary Posted May 21, 2008 Report Posted May 21, 2008 I had the same problem on my BJII and I think what fixed it for me was hitting the Fn key. For some reason i think it gets stuck to a different function somehow (being in a leather case). Have not seen the problem for awhile now. Give it a try see if it helps.
