Guest Tikky7 Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 (edited) I paired the BJII to my car however when I recieve or place a call, during the conversation with that person (Not to be confused with three-way calling this scenario is just a basic A to B (or B to A) call), I hear my own echo in the transmit. When I ask the other side of how my voice quality is they say it sounds like its coming from a tunnel (hall effect). However if I switch to use handset mode and then back to use headset (connects back to the car) the issue gets resolved and the voice quality improves. Anyone have any ideas why this might occur? I did not have this problem with my previous Motorola Razr :( . In fact another issue I see is: The car used to display signal strength and battery life for the Razr however for the Blackjack the signal strength is always 0 even though the phone is showing full bars, same goes for the battery :D . I think the issue is in the Bluetooth version being used that is causing the problem. I had purchased the Razr when it initially came out so the Bluetooth S/W version on it is much older then on my BlackJack. Any help on this topic would be much appreciated. Technical replies are welcome. Edited May 20, 2008 by Tikky7

Without knowing the specifics of the razor I would say it's a compatibiity issue... If the Car doesnt list the signal or battery strength of the BJII so I would presume that due to incompatability it cant pull the info from the phone... I could be wrong but it wouldnt be the first time things havent worked together due to upgrades in the standards......

It seems to me the BT power from Blackjack II is much lower, and that is what causes the echo. I was hoping for a BT update, but have not found it so far.
Guest isakhnov Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 I'm having the same problem with the echo. All my previous phones (SDA, BlackBery,...) worked fine with my car but Blackjack II give huge echo that I can hear almost as loud as the person I'm talking to. The person on the other end complaints that there is a lot of static and it's not possible to make out what am I talking about. Turing "hands free" off and then on again solves the problem and provides a very good quality call. I'm still under 30 days and will most likely drop the phone due to this and GPS problems unless I can find a solution (GPS stopped working after first couple of days).
Guest scaleyphish Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 I have noticed problems with the bluetooth functions with my BJII as well. When I am using my motorolla headset (I have it used with my past two phones perfectly) with the BJII, it seems like theres not a lot of bluetooth power/reange from the phone. I have to have my phone in my pants pocket that is on the same side of my body as the headset, and I can't have the phone on my desk and walk more than 5-10 feet away without the quality dimishing or even disconnecting. I also have bluetooth set up with my Garmin unit in my truck and I have the same problem: I have to place the phone on my console in order for it to work correctly.
Guest sparky472 Posted May 30, 2008 Report Posted May 30, 2008 Not much to add other than I am having the same problem with my car. No signal indicator. Horrible echo. Person on other end says what they hear is loud with a lot of static. Very disappointing. I just got a brand new BJII a couple days ago and this is a major problem for me. I wish someone new of a fix. My Razor, BlackBerry and another WM5 device all worked fine.
Guest isakhnov Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Any idea if Moto Q has the same problem or it is limited to BJII/
Guest sparky472 Posted June 2, 2008 Report Posted June 2, 2008 After some research, according to Toyota (I am driving a 2008 Camry), the BJII is not supported by it's bluetooth system currently. I imagine the same is true for Lexus. I have discovered that the sound quality/echo issues only occur for me when dialing from the car system. Dialing from the phone or receiving calls, and the sound quality is good and there is no echo. So, I can't voice dial calls, which is unfortunate, but at least the system works fine in call. I can live with out the signal strength bars. It shows when I'm connected, and that's good enough for me. Hope that helps.

Up to date BT system + Up to date BT Phone = Driving Bliss! :( Or maybe it's just the intoxicating New Car smell blinding me to her blemishes - sigh :D OK, not the most economical solution, but definitely a fun one!
