Need some help with choosing a new device.

Sadly, can't wait for the Raphael (will probably get one when it comes out though)

I'm looking for:

  1. WM 6 (or 6.1) Professional
  2. Hardware keyboard (full QWERTY preferred)
  3. WiFi
  4. SD, miniSD, microSD all fine
  5. 3G would be nice, but not essential
  6. GPS would be nice, but not essential
  7. Prefer miniUSB connector
  8. Small and light is important (I love the size of the Touch, no use for the Shift, Exec etc)
Not interested in:
  1. i-mate devices
  2. Forward-facing camera (having one isn't an issue though)
I'm looking at things like these:

HTC Kaiser - "Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM"

MWg Zinc II - "Nice looking, but MW-who?"

Eten Glofish M810- "Not sure about the keyboard, but OK"

Asus P750 "Not convinced about the form factor"

Kaiser is looking a likely winner ATM, but can anyone recommend the Zinc or Glofish

The other

Out of all the devices I have and use (i.e. basically all of them), I ALWAYS end up back on the Kaiser... it's the device in my pocket right now.

And I have / have had all of those :D

FWIW, Zinc II = M810 (pretty much), the Eten M800 also probably fits your bill.

Other devices to consider:

- Samsung i780

- Blackjack II (do you definitely want 'Pro'?)

- Toshiba G910 (not had one yet tho)

- HTC Touch Dual 20 key

Hmmm, from that list the Touch Dual 20 key could fit your needs well, so long as WiFi isn't a 'must have', particularly as you like the original Touch.

How about a Diamond and a Redfly? :D

I quite like the GloFiish, but like Paul, feel drawn to my Kaiser.

Redfly is still something for the future, but I'll wait for a price drop I think.

It's a "nice to have" accessory, not an essential

Yeah, unless you consider it as a device that enables you to use a keyboardless device such as the diamond?

I plan on having a Diamond / RedFly combo until such time as I can get a Raphael I think :D

To me it's not the same.

I want a Touch with a full QWERTY slide-out kbd.

Sometimes I want something in between a PDA and a laptop, but not that often.

Come on already with the Raphael I say...

Er, OK

The i780 was a huge mistake/disappointment and is going straight back

Keyboard is too cramped,

Screen so highly reflective it's unusable in indirect sunlight,

Screen res wastes masses of space (RealVGA 96dpi goes too far the other way)

I don't know what battery life would be like (seems OK so far) because it's going back

After the Touch it felt big as well - Wider (by millimeters) and taller (by half an inch) but it felt like much more than that.

I also really, really missed TouchFlo! Never thought I'd say that, but just being able to "throw" a screen of icons or a web page is so handy.

So. Not sure where that leaves me.

Waiting for the Raphael I think.
