Permissions error when overwriting .exe's in Windows folder

I've been trying some of the hacks posted for the Blackjack 2 but I'm unable to perform the ones that require overwriting .exe's in the Windows folder. When I try to do that I get this error: "You do not have permission to change this item." My device is app unlocked so I don't know understand why this happens.

It seems the .exe's in question are readonly and I assume that's part of the problem. But when I change this attribute the file immediately reverts back to being readonly.

I've seen lots of complaints about this error message on the web but no one has a fix that actually works. One recommendation I've seen is to copy the new file to a temporary location, then perform the copy/overwrite using File Explorer on the mobile device. But that still results in a similar permissions error.

Any ideas? Please help!

From what I've read on some threads, namely the reassigning the CV and ATT icon buttons, you can't do this from a Vista PC. I certainly can't. And even though unlocked, the phone won't allow me to either. If you aren't trying it from a Vista PC, then I don't know what to say. For myself, I have not had the opportunity to try an XP machine yet to test the difference.

Thanks for the help but so far, no good.

hagie92 - My phone is definitely app unlocked. Just to be sure I even tried the app unlocker at the link you gave and restarted the phone, but still can't overwrite those .exe's. I also tried Total Commander but it didn't help at all -- I still can't move or delete the .exe's, and the readonly attribute still reverts back to true every time.

ascian - My computer does have Vista but I have these problems even when I'm working with the device's OS (disconnected from any computer). I'll give it a try from an XP machine but I doubt that will help any.

Still looking for an answer on this one...

Well please keep us abreast of any developments. From the sound of it, we have the exact same problem.

It turned out that Vista was my problem. I tried these steps from an XP computer and they worked.

Yes, vista didnt let me do any of this either, I just copied the hacks to my phone, and then used total commander to move them. I'm glad you got it working!
