Guest Shire29 Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Well, read a lot of stuff with regards to backup, update, decert etc. but as far as I can tell, no-one has given an indication of what the update has done, how has it improved :? ? Cheers, Shire
Guest Ed Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 I'll list the things that I've noticed... Menus and general phone operation seem a fair bit faster There is new software for editing and managing Pictures. There is new software for editing and managing Sounds. New message now has an option "from camera".

Guest mike-oh Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Does the back light timeout function actually mean never this time? and not some wierd (god only knows how you can missunderstand it) never. Thanks, Mike
Guest Lojt Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Well, Paul, its nice to have a key to press if you for example wanna see the time ;)
Guest cseilern Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 - has anyone had the update long enough to notice if bettery life is improved? - has storage space improved? i have ~3k calendar items and ~1k contact items, no installed apps and very little in the way of messages in the in box or sent items, but my avilable storage in the phone is only 690k (!) thanks
Guest casper508 Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 What about POP3 accounts ? Still only one ? Cas
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 Other things I've noticed Internet scrolling much faster and load times seem better. Battery life has increased ;) I charged mine up last night and now it's still on 67% (all-explorer) MSN messenger has moved to the first page There is a picture managerand a soun manager (nOt sure what that is about) Over all it does seem better but we also may have a few new bugs  It's nice to be a beta tester
Guest jtsaint Posted January 28, 2003 Report Posted January 28, 2003 There is still only one pop3 account allowed. MMS has a progress bar. This is a bit weird but - when the phone is left for a while and the screen has turned off it takes a lot longer to wake up when you press a key. I guessed it was some better low power mode. However this could be bollox
Guest Chris b.a.r.f. Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Typing a web-address in is *much* quicker than it was before the update and battery-life has been greatly improved - having had the updated ROM in the phone for a day now I must say I'm impressed, despite that fact that we STILL can't use the danish characters æ, ø and å - and that's a bloody disgrace
Guest ajb3000 Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 is there an sms character counter?
Guest dava Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 I have also noticed a greatly improved signal along with the speed increase and battery life extension... The other new 'feature' is that it is no longer possible to use non-Orange SIMs in the phone ;) dava
