Hi all,

Well it happened...Tthe plastic outer screen on the BJII is cracked.

Believe it or not it fell off the dash of my car and landed face first into the carpet mat on the drivers side and right onto a stone that had been brought into the car....how unlucky!!! Very unlucky...

Thing is the LCD screen isnt cracked but the plastic overlay (looks clear like the buttons) is cracked on the left hand side. It's not big but it will spread there's no doubt about it!!!

SO....Spare parts links anyone!!! Can I get a new housing or not. I havent seen them. Any lovely American citizen willing to see if they can source one....I'm in Australia where they dont stock the BJII...

I'm so totally bummed....still thankfull it wasnt the LCD screen though. I'll post some links to pic's shortly, I just got home from a long weekend and the wife is yelling at me to get of the PC as I am apparently on it all the time and I havent bothered to "say hi"....

Add insult to injury lol.........

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately Australian Phone companies/carriers wont insure phones they dont stock or didnt sell you.

I have a related question. I never put a screen protector on my BJ2. So the screen has slowly accumulated a bunch of nasty scratches. I am considering buying the replacement screen glass. But before I do, has anyone ever successfully polished out the scratches? And also, can anyone recommend a particular screen protector? Or do people just use the generic ones from Best Buy, etc. Thanks.

I use InvisibleShield (now known as Zagg)

It looks great (can't even tell it's on). I've had no scratches on the screen since I've owned it (since February).

That's a great shield and it's very transparent, but I wish I couldn't tell it's on also. Mine has a very rough appearance from an angle. Also, it was not a trivial task to apply. Better have patience.

I agree. I did a full Invisible Shield on my ipod. The protection is excellent, but it is not fully transparent. Also it was very hard to apply. I actually ruined the shield on my first attempt. Luckily they will send you a new one for free as long as you return the ruined one.

You can also buy a replacement screen lens on EBay for cheaper than at cellular dr. I think its around $15 or so but make sure that you get one for the BJ2 and not for the BJ1 since they aren't the same (I assume you know this already though).

My lens is cracked as well (happened a week after I got the phone) and I really want to fix it but am worried about breaking something while taking the phone apart or not being able to put it back together correctly. I also heard that the glue used to glue the lens to the outer casing is strong stuff and that its really hard to remove just the lens without breaking the casing.

Anyways, good luck and please let me know how the replacement goes and if you have any tips on how to do it.
