Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Updated a couple of days back ... an improvement on the previous version. Will see how I get on with it. Strangely noticed it doesnt have threaded SMS support ... yet when I reply to an SMS, it opens the threaded sms application from Flexmail!
Guest Urban Strata Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I'd love to see some shots of Flexmail 4.0 on the REDFLY. Also, does Flexmail 4.0 seem stable? Older versions were hobbled by bugs and instability... As much as I wanted to like it, it was impossible. Is it solid now?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Yes, it seems very stable... sounds like you're a good candidate for trying the demo :D I'll grab some REDFLY screenies when I get a chance... P
Guest Sonicr360 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Hi Paul / guys After finding this on the news, I thought I would download the trial and see how it faired against the "standard" mail app for the TYTN II WM6 Before I start, just to point out I have a 4GB Micro Card, and tons of memory on the device itself. I use it for Active Sync mail and SMS Messages. Hardly any apps installed, got Tom tom 6, a few little games, and thats about it. Now, install was fine. As Paul points out, alot of features, so I will be reading the PDF later in much more detail. Some things I have noticed straight away: 1) Its not syncing with Active Sync! I have 4 accounts (Active Sync, Windows Mail, POP3 account and the SMS messages account). The Active Sync, although setup, appears in the standard "Mail" client, but not FlexMail. will look into this more. 2) When getting SMS messages, FlexMail shows I have 2049 in the inbox and over 1,700 sent. But the annoyance is it takes over 1 min for me to see the SMS in FlexMail. If I use the standard mail app, it appears in seconds. 3) Nice layout, just sluggish at times As it stands, as much as i would really, really like it, and use email alot, I am not sure I can justify the cost for something that I may or may not use. Not knocking it, as I see a host of features that make it a killer mail application. If anyone knows of a way to speed things up (currently installed on the card), please let me know Thanks, Simon :D
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 1) This works for me! 2) :D Speed wise, I think I have it installed on the card too, but then I don't have the insane amount of SMS you have :( It does use the Windows internal storage database tho, so that's on the device itself. P
Guest Confucious Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 The cost? It's free for Modaco Plus members :D

P Paul, Well I may try on the device itself. To be honest, I did not believe the SMS messages was that high. And remember, the "Built in" SMS app for WM6 works very, very fast, less than 1 second to view a message !
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Switching between views for me are dead slow too. Also mine receives my email from my hosted exchange via activesync. But when I do "send and recieve", there is NOTHING in the box ... no progress, nowt.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I turned off the slidey animation thing btw... (for the redflys benefit) P

But when I do "send and recieve", there is NOTHING in the box ... no progress, nowt. I get exactly the same problem here too!! Nothing appears!! Yet, if I go to the Email built in app and do a send receive, it kicks active sync into play and receive emials ! Glad it is not just me !
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 FM4 on the Redfly (not sure why the screen capture app squashed it!):
Guest Sonicr360 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Paul not sure what this redfly is mate, so probably a bit lost here ! Even so, I will look at the PDF, but I do feel something is wrong. how do I get teh modaco membership please?
Guest Confucious Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 how do I get teh modaco membership please? http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=announ...;f=203&id=2
Guest Confucious Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 np - but that list seems out of date - far more freebies now!
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Yup, I will be updating the Plus list this week... P
Guest Sonicr360 Posted June 21, 2008 Report Posted June 21, 2008 All Just to let you all know, I installed the Flexmail app on the device itself, and the SMS messages are still slow to load. In fact, takes under 1 min to load it ! Shame..... not sure if its a bug or what.... 1,800 messages now !
Guest Sonicr360 Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Well after an install to the device, the problem persists, and I refuse to remove my sms messages because the pocket outlook / sms built in program works fine. There is definetely an issue with activesync via Exchange and Flexmail as it just refuses to show up, but does so in pocket outlook. Sadly, although it looks good, it just isnt quite there yet! Simon
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Same here ... removed flexmail this weekend, it's powerful, but too fiddly and slow.
